A Different Problem Putting the Top Down

Last September (2018) I suddenly had a problem where my top wouldn't go down. The display showed the error message "Unlatch Top" (which which of course I had done).

When I took the car to the dealer for service in October (2018) and asked them to check the problem, they said the top was working perfectly. Sure enough, when I got it back it was working, and continued to work up until last week (May 2019).

I've had the car since 2012, so I know how to operate the top. I'm also aware that you have to have the bar in the trunk in position (but that returns a different error message).

I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this, or has any theory about what may be happening. There must be a sensor that reports the state of the latch, so I'm guessing that this may be failing. Or maybe this is just a computer glitch that can be reset somehow?
