Camaros future and purchasing
Would you let the possible discontinuation of the Camaro sway you away from buying a new one? Would a discontinuation affect the available aftermarket parts? I just bought a 2021 and I don't like the fact that the car may go away. I was unaware of the Camaros fate before I bought mine. Knowing it may be discontinued, I may not have bought it. I was undecided on the Mustang and Camaro until I actually test drove the Camaro. I have always liked Camaros and think they are a much better value and much better looking than the Mustang.
I finally got to a place in my life where I could get one and Just feeling kind of bummed about it being possibly discontinued. |

I also bought my 2021 Camaro without the knowledge of the possibility of the Camaros going away, but I'm looking at it a bit different than you are. I was able to get a Camaro before they were (possibly) discontinued (and that is a good thing). I doubt that if the Camaro being discontinued in the future it will effect after market parts. The number of units sold per model year is what will determine availability for after market parts, not what happens to the model in the future. If the Camaro stops being made, the resale price for our cars may go up in the future (but I wouldn't hold my breath on this one). You have the car you wanted, now enjoy it and don't worry about what GM will do with future production.

This rumor came out shortly after I bought my SS.
I still bought the ZL1 after that. These cars are built on arguably the best chassis in the affordable automotive realm, & whether GM has their head up their ass or not in regards to the Camaro shouldn’t impact you enjoying your new car. |

Wrecks, enjoy your new Camaro and don’t be concerned about the future fate of the model. Manufacturers discontinue models frequently but that doesn’t stop people from owning and driving them long after the production ceases. Congratulations on your purchase and enjoy the hell out of it is what I say!

To me Camaros are timeless. I love the cars. Always have. I guess my main concern is the availability of support and parts. But the more I think about it the better I feel. My dad had a 4th gen SS and he had no issues finding performance parts.

No. Parts will be around for a long time. My buddy still drives his Saturn.

Dealers are obliged to support the cars at least 10 years after the model has been discontinued (at least for Canada). And aftermarket parts go beyond that.
And since lors of parts from the Camaro are shared with other véhicules, I am sure there will be no issue. I'd still buy another one today if I had the chance.

I just purchased a new 2021 2SS because of the rumor that they may stop making them in a year or two and am very happy with the car. It is exactly what I wanted, performance, color and equipment levels and having had a 2018 2SS before this one, I know that I will be very happy with the vehicle. Parts are still available for my 1994 Z28 so I am certain that there will be no issues with my 2021. If the seventh generation comes out and is not electric then I will get one. Just my two cents.

Nah you're good, it's really just a model name. My '17 Impala doesn't have much in common with previous generations, and if they were going to do a new one (they're not) it would probably be on a new platform. Your Gen 6 is a specific car no matter what happens to the model name later.

I don't think there's any worry about parts availability over the life of a Camaro, even if you buy a new one now and it's discontinued in a couple of years.
In general, most non-hybrid and non-electric cars will be gone in 10 to 15 years, so the Camaro is not in a unique position. I own a 2010 2SS, and my quandary is whether to keep it for life, or, if I replace it after the pandemic, which configuration to buy? |

They are very close in many aspects. The Alpha platform used some lightening techniques to trim weight in some key areas that doesn’t negate rigidity.
