Actually, the ZL1 is just as heavy as the SRT8 and the SS is only a couple hundred pounds lighter. Heck, even at 3500-3800 pounds the Mustang GT and GT500 are no lightweights......

I don't know. To me that just looks like a high rise manifold. I'm not seeing the crank or pulley on the front, just some type of connector.

Gonna need every bit of that to keep up with the GT500 in a drag race.

I'm sure they will give it some suspension goodness as well, but can't see the Challenger giving the ZL1 fits on a track.

Looking forward to this.
I could see it very well taking on the ZL1. The platform is supposed to be redone with the goal of allowing the 8 speed auto to be used and to cut some weight out. I could easily see the SRT8 Supercharged being as light or even lighter than the ZL1. These cars are also supposed running even bigger Brembo brakes and i am sure a suspension to go along with it. This should be exciting. Also, per the artical, sources stated the goal is 700 HP, but guesses are more in the 600-650 range.

I know all the "Muscle Cars"/"Pony Cars" of today are pigs. The Camaro needed a S/C to weigh as much as the SRT8. What do you think this behemoth is going to weigh in at? Gotta figure at least 150-200lbs more?

The Mustang is the lightest and she's a little fatty too the Camaro is right in the middle (I always preferred the thick girls) but the Challenger is an absolute BBW... lol

The new/revised platform for the 15s is supposed to be lighter so probably no more than the current SRT8 and no more than the ZL1. this could also end up being all aluminum instead of having an iron block which would save a LOT right there.

Not only is the ZL1 lighter than both the manual and automatic equipped Challenger SRT, it offers better weight distribution and lower center of gravity. It is shorter, wider and lower than the SRT.

Allpar’s sources have said that the car will use the ZF HP90 automatic transmission, an eight-speed capable of around 650 lb-ft of torque. That sets an upper limit on the 6.2’s power output; horsepower is undetermined, with our sources still saying that Chrysler is shooting for 700, and our conservative, jaundiced view suggesting it will most likely be in the 600-650 hp range

The auto Hellcats will beat the GT500 in a drag race. The manual will be a drivers race.

The autos will have the 8 speed ZF-HP90.

I don't think Dodge would let it have more HP than the Viper, which has what, 640HP? I think 600-620HP is what the final number will be.
