Recaros - Seat Belt Rubbing
I just noticed that the seat belt is already rubbing through the vinyl near the seat belt keeper (I'm not sure what it really called). I've only had the car for a few months, so I'm worried about the severity of this so fast.
Has anyone else experienced this with this Recaros? Think there is any easy warranty fix? My concern would be that even a replacement seat would have this same issue within a few months. Thanks for any input! |

My car is a year old and I have no wear marks on my Recaros. However, I do not use the safety belt guide on either seat either for the very reason you are now experiencing. I would definitely inquire with the dealership about warranty coverage and replacement.

I may try without it tomorrow. I like the feeling, but I think the seat belt guide is placed a bit too low on the seat. I'm 6' 2" and have the seat as high and I can comfortably put it, so the seat belt isn't at some crazy angle.

Get that seat replaced under warranty. That is unacceptable. Period.
I am 6'3" and I have no idea how you can use those keepers for the belts. I wish they weren't even on my Recaros because I can't comfortably use them. My guess is if I forced myself to use them, my seats would look like yours. Thanks for sharing and please let us know how the dealership treats you on this.

Don't loop it thru the strap. I saw the issues with the strap early on, and I just pull it across. It sucks but so does wear and tear.

Mine has the same issue. If I don't use the keeper, it cuts into my neck. If I use the keeper, the seat gets cut into. It's pretty aggravating.

Mine has the same issue. I only have 1500 miles on it and it is worn. I'm going to be taking it to the dealer soon hopefully they will replace it.

I guess it sounds like the only solution is some sort of protective layer over the seat right at the stitching. I'm going to get work to get the seat replaced under warranty and then just put a piece of electrical tape down to protect the seat.
I refuse to have the seat belt right at my neck when I drive, and I really don't want such an obvious blemish. I'll give you guys an update when I find time to get to the dealer. Thanks as always for everyone's input! |

If there is enough people that share this issue, it might be a TSB

Ouch! I have fine scratches from the belt already :( I'm waiting to see how much wear the leg brace gets in a few years?

Since I don't have any noticeable wear on my passenger seat, I decided to see if a little electrical tape may act as a buffer. Besides not wanting to adhere to the vinyl, it seems as though it may work at least temporarily.
I'm going to see how long my quick and dirty tape job works. If it lasts through a few passengers, I'll go back and make it look a little nicer. However, in normal light, the tape isn't very noticeable; the flash really makes it stand out though. |

Yeah we haven't used the strap on ours since day one due to this issue.

Something like this would help that I would think. Would look better than electrical tape anyway lol
