Recaro seat issue

I have this wear beginning to show on the driver seat where the seatbelt rubs. Anyone else have this? Car has 3000 miles on it. Also could it be fixed under warranty, the seat shouldn't be wearing like this.

It looks like the loop is being pulled up by the seatbelt causing that wear.

I've seen this issue in the 1LE forums...I think it's a know issue with these seats and yes some have had them replaced under warranty.

It happens on the regular leather seats too. The only fix is to pull your seatbelt straight out instead of across your body so it doesn't rub against the leather. Just a bad design.

Yes, this is common. I believe there is another thread here in the Zl1 forum about it.

I had it noted to the dealer. My looks like yours, with even less miles. We agreed that it would not make sense to change out the seat covers at this juncture, as it will likely get worse or happen again. My plan is to see if GM comes up with a solution, and if not, work with my dealer for a seat cover repair/replacement before warranty is up (or if it gets really bad).

EDIT: Here is one of the previous threads: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=404062

My solution was to take the seatbelt out of that loop. Then I put a sheepskin pad around it. Instead of putting the pad on my shoulder, I keep it pushed up to protect the seat. I never use the loop and the pad keeps it from slipping under the strap.

Welcome to the club :( I have the same thing. As soon as I get of my lazy butt I was pondering a thin flexible clear coated something or other that would encase the strap for what ever length is regularly used.

I had the same issue. You can see my thread here, including my "solution":

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...t+belt+rubbing

As a follow up to that thread, the dealer replaced the seat cover no questions asked. However, my dealer did have to order a new seat cover, so keep that in mind. My dealer was able to overnight it so I was only out of a car for a day.

Also, I've since preemptively placed the electrical tape in the rubbing area. After taking my time, I was able to make it look presentable, and no one riding in my car has mentioned it. For me, not using the seatbelt loop was very uncomfortable. However, my electrical tape fix has held up for over a month now without needing to be replaced!

Good luck!

Mine is showing no wear at 2000 miles so with all these threads I'm just waiting for mine to start having problems as it seems like only a matter of time :(

I've seen that before on the forum. The belt rubbing against the surface (made worse by the loop). I don't loop mine at all; Aggravating, but so is taking the car back for warranty issues.

I would not put up with an inferior design like that. I would immediately take the seats out of the car before they are damaged any further and send them to me. I will send you my non-recaro seats without any damage so that your beautiful car will not suffer any further psychological damage by the very obvious inferior design of the Recaros. Since my car is not as beautiful as yours, I will not have to worry about any damage to her ego. Looking forward to receiving your seats and helping you with this problem.

I do not use the belt retainer loops for the very reason you are now experiencing.

If you get them replaced, I will buy your old Recaros off you if the price is right.

The dealer doesn't replace the entire seat (at least mine didn't). They just replace the seat cover itself.

And I can't imagine the dealer would just hand you the warranty repair Recaro. Warranty repair parts generally must be returned to GM, as far as I know.
