Emptied out Catch Can and... WOW!!

So I emptied my elite engineering catch can for the very FIRST time (about 10,000 later). I put it on right after my last oil change, and I am about 25% on oil life.

Measured out, its around 4 fluid ounces. Guess the thing is doing its job!!

in 10,000 miles? That seems like a lot of blow by. I mean don't get me wrong I'm glad you have the catch can. But it just makes me wonder why so much oil is getting past.

Every time I check my Dads no oil. I am not sure why not? Its been on for a long time now. Going to add a glass fuel filter to see if oil is getting past.

I get that much about every 2000 miles or less! Bad valley cover I am thinking! But the dealer won't do anything about it because these motors are allowed to lose a quart every 3000 miles! There is A very long thread on this subject!

You need to empty it more often. Once it got that full the catch can stopped doing it's job. There's no telling how much oil got by because it was full.

Tracking. Just one of those things that slipped away from my mind and I forgot to do.

Yeah, I'd say that looks pretty normal for 10,000 miles, and yeah, you should be dumping it more often due to that, usually every oil change, which I wouldn't go more than 3-5k miles between them, especially in a VVT and AFM car.

I installed a Rx catch can when the car had 4K miles (LS3). I was getting about 4 oz of oil every 3K miles for the first 21k miles. I just changed my oil (28K) and didn't see more that 1/2 oz in the last 7K miles. Not sure why it's changed and I verified everything is still connected properly.

It seems that driving habits have a lot to do with it.
It seems like when I drive my car harder, there is more in the catch can, when I drive slower there is less.
May just be my imagination, but thats what it seems like.
