There are 1978 other member builds you could ask that also... some like the process and fun of modding, some would rather buy it.

It goes for the Z/28 also -- why by the z/28 when you could buy say a GTR, Dodge Viper, HellCat, Shelby, ZL1/1LE, etc...

You could also ask all the Z/28 guys why they modded there Z/28 -- there are quite a few of them also...

Personal choice...

Had a blast at Camaro Fest X. Made 6 passes on Friday in the heat of the day, 11:45am to 4:45pm.

On the first pass it went 11.14 leaving rather softly, rolling into it.
The next two passes I got into it a bit quicker and went 10.91 and 11.02.
Then 10.94, 10.83 and 10.89.
The left lane was definitely slower for me as the best passes came in the right lane with a best of 10.83 & 124.84 on the 5th pass.

Traction for me was great even with all the passes made during the heat of the day. Downside, the drag radials rotated some more on the wheels. Made for some severe vibration on the top end on the last couple of passes.

On the last two passes, we swapped out the Z28 rear spoiler for a ZL1 spoiler. Made the fastest pass of the day after that swap. Not sure if that was coincidence or not.
