I'm deciding between automatic, which will be easier to drive, but lose out on HP, and going manual, which will be more fun but potentially annoying in traffic and the daily grind.

I'm new here! Will be buying in the spring! Wife insists that it will be too hectic in the snow.
It would be bad but it is not possible to do. The tapshift feature is only activated when in "m" or in "m" and "d" in the newer models, it will not activate from neutral.

Please don't neutral drop any car, it angers the car gods.

Thanks. Can anyone with an automatic respond with how the car behaves in first, stopped with a foot on the brake then immediately putting the accelerator to the floor?

If I do that I start out in first gear.

I manually upshift and downshift for fun sometimes.

I sit in a lot of traffic so got the auto.

neutral drops are VERY bad..

I don't think the computers on our cars will even allow it.. back in the day it was a good way to spin the driveshaft u-bolts or worse crack the crankshaft.

You can still do it. No need to though, you'll only spin which can be done with out neutral dropping. What I do is put it in sport, its faster than tapshift, then hold the brake and bring it to 1250rpm and punch it while letting off the brake when its time to go.

small correction..

put into sport.
hold the traction control button to take the nannies off (8-10 seconds)

then power brake..

It takes 8-10 seconds? I hold it for a second or two and it turns off and on.

I like the tapshift, only way I drive my car. 1st gear launches pretty good but as soon as you get into 2nd it gets up to speed pretty quick. My V6 ill hit 50 in 2nd and still only at 4-5k rpms. Plus its fun when your on the highway on 6th drop to 3rd and go

hold it for 8-10 seconds.. it disables everything.

each push only disables part of it.. holding it turns all the nannies off (well about 80%, I did a power slide recently and discovered it will still right the car)

Will our cars even let us drop three gears? I thought the computer limits us to only a two gear drop? And is that bad to do?

It does for me, I think its just after a certain rpm cause I can go from 3rd to 1st and it jumps to redline. I don't think its the best for the car but what is unless you drive like a senior citizen. I've got a warranty for up to 100k on my car so not to worried about it
