Funny Skipshift Idea

Ok, LS3 Owners, what RPM is too low to be driving at? Reason being, When I shift (or try to shift) to 2 from 1, or to 3 from 1, the skip shift comes on periodically. This lugs the engine down to around 700. Really lugs. I know the skip shift eliminator will work, but why would GM make a feature that causes you to lug the engine? how many would like skipshift to be 1-3 instead of 1-4?

yea, the 1-4 shift is a little loophole for GM to add 50HP and avoid the gas guzzler tax.

as long as I shift to 2,000 rpm, it doesn't activate. which even an automatic will shift that high under normal acceleration. Are you regularly shifting at 1,500 rpm???? If I did that, back in the day my dad would yell at me... tell me I'm shifting too early.

Yeah some guys have different habits or shift to early. Never had a problem in my 95 Formula. This is an old feature. Just give it some RPMS.

Anyone know the value of the resister in a skip shift eliminator ? Because a simple .58 cent resister will solve the problem .

A 2.2K ohm 0.5 watt resistor from Radio Shack which costs about $1

CAGS comes into play under the following conditions:

* you're in 1st gear (of course)
* you're at 35% throttle or less
* you're between 15 and 21 mph
* engine coolant temperature is greater than 171 F (77 C)

lol, agreed.
The only times I hit the skip-shift is when the girlfriend is sleeping in the passenger seat and I'm actually letting her by driving nicely. ......which isn't very often.

2.2kohm, 1/2 watt. Then you would need the weather pack connectors if you want to have a good seal on the connection.

or, you could click my sig

How is skipshift coming on when you are DOWN shifting? Isn't this impossible? Do you really drive a Camaro? What am I missing here?

I shift around 3200 and it's a good smooth shift/clutch release speed

Only time mine has ever shown the skip shift message is when I was intentionally trying to make it happen to find out if the previous owner put a SSE on it, never seen it popup under normal driving.

I did get an eliminator from Apex, but honestly don't think I'd ever need it.
