Is it just me?

Or does it look like the 5th gen could use a 2-3 inch drop? Sits a little too high stock for me.

I'm sure they raised it a little higher than the enthusiasts would like to make it more livable in every day driving for the average consumer. As pinkcamaro pointed out, most people don't like the smack their car's nose on every speed bump and dip on the road. Its better for the hard core guys to invest in a drop than make the car annoying for the masses.

That's the sort of thing that makes customizing the car fun. You can lower yours and have something unique.

My 84 HO Z28 froze to the ground once. We had a wet snow and it drifted up against the black plastic air diverter under the already low nose. After it snowed, it went down to about 5 degrees over night and the wet snow turned to ice and froze the plastic in a block of ice. I was going 40 on the speedo and not going anywhere as the wheels spun on the ice. Literally had to crawl underneath after shovelling out and chip it out, and then I had to replace the plastic caused it broke in the process and eventually tore and flopped around...Ahhhh....The good old days...Don't ask me about my 85 IROC and scraping that nose, or how it did in the snow....

If you live somewhere where that is not a problem, go for it if it makes it YOUR car.....

That's why we get to mod... Hopefully a drop won't be too difficult.

something to keep in mind is that it is on smaller wheels than the concept, which gives it a larger gap between the fenders and the wheels.

These cars are all V6s, right? The V6 has always sat a little higher than the V8 cars. If these need a 2-3 in drop, I'm guessing the SS will only need 1-1.5 in drop.

I don't want the Camaro to sit 1" above the ground, some roads here have potholes and I don't want to wreck it.

You know, I had an 86 IROC... and the chin spoiler was cracked and scratched before I even got it, and the doors did freeze shut. It never froze to the ground though.
