the code wont be enough, you need to prove employment with GM with a pay check stub.

No. They’re hoping someone will vouch for them that they are a family member, etc. Anyone silly enough to risk their discount privileges/job are well, just plain stupid.

^^^This^^^ sayeth the longtime GM Employee / retiree who has distributed numerous discounts to family members.

GM DOES audit the use of the certificates and WILL retract privileges for violating the rather liberal guidelines. Parents, grand parents, siblings, children nieces, nephews, grandchildren, in-laws.

At certain levels, executives can provide one discount a month to anyone. Once a year or so GM used to allow company car drivers to pass along one employee discount to anyone. I’ve been retired a few years now so I’m not sure if they still do that.

Bottom line, it is extremely unlikely that someone you are not related to or really really close to will just up and offer you a GM Employee discount. It’s not worth the downside.

He may be talking about the GM Supplier Discount for Friends Program. These can be given out to "Sponsored Individuals" once a month from GM employees. You sponsor these individuals enter their birthdate and zip code. You get an authorization code for the individual which allows them to purchase at GM Supplier Pricing.

That would make more sense and is more attainable. A lot of dealers will simply give you GM Supplier pricing if you push for it. Also I think Costco offers vehicles at what is essentially GM Supplier pricing.

My father in law is a retired GM employee. Am I eligible through him to use it, and/or does my wife have to be on the car to get it? I dont really care if she is or isnt on the car, just wondering.

Your father in law should be able to share the discount with you. https://www.gmfamilyfirst.com/share/

You would fit within the guidelines. I’m a retired GM employee and I just gave my father-in-law a discount two months ago.

I think the Costco thing is still true, but you needed to be a member before a specific year. You wouldn't be able to just go out and get a Costco membership and then go straight to a dealer and expect to get a discount.
