it sounded nothing like that. and a trained ear can tell that that video was dubbed over. thats not the way cars sound when recording outdoors.

that video sounded NOTHING like what i saw. the 5.0 i saw had a deeper tone than that.

they key to figuring out that video was a fake is that there is no "whooosh" when the car drives past the camera. that and it sounded like a video game

I think its inevitable, every Mustang thread on here turns into Mustang vs Camaro. Its just so much fun.

In a small bit of irony..I would have had to pay over 1000 dollars more for a similarly equipped Camaro SS than I did for my Challenger R/T...

I paid 31,585 for my R/T and I would have to pay 32,790 for a SS.

So, not all Camaro owners paid less than I did.

2011 Mustang GT has a weight of 3604 (MT) with the spare tire (18#) and with a full tank of fuel. So without the spare and with only 5 gallons of fuel it will be just under 3500. With the optional 3:73 gears and the 6spd manual it will be a force to deal with....especially at $30,000 price tag for a base model.

The good thing is with a SC you will only get a 80-90HP increase out of the new 5.0. The bad thing is add some forged pistons and you can turn the boost way up on it and be pushing 580-600 hp all day. It will be interesting to see what happens; I am a life long GM guy....but you have to take a look at the new GT and wonder what the Dark side is all about!

I hope this pushes Camaro/GM to lighten up the car and add some more gear options!

With forged pistons, I would hope that 580-600 would be on the low end. 03-04 Cobras push 600 rwhp no prob with just a supercharger swap. The new 5.0 is supposed to have vastly superior heads, Im thinking it should push 650ish no prob, as long as the rods can take it.

more gear options would be Great however give it a Few years Ford will have to add airbags and safety equip to there car when they redo its look once again and she will gain a little weight.

Dont stress to much on the stang I give ford a Hand in making a Great car with unusual displacement and interesting cylinder heads that makes 1.36hp cid right out of the box compared to Gm's Camaro with a 376 Ls3 which offers 1.13hp CID. Give those designed Fords 5.0L a hand its a Great motor for the folks who want to buy a car and leave it be and say this is my car.
You cant make the thing bigger in displacement like the LS3 and you have ZERO latitude for increased lift and faster ramp rate cams like the LS3's or 7's. The guys who buy the Camaro have all the room in the world to play and after they get through playing the 2011 Mustang doesn't stand a chance in hell since Ford did so much just to get what they can from the factory.


Its going to be a drivers race a lot of the time. This new 5.0L is going to make the folks who have 03/04 Cobras smile even more because they will realize ford designed them a Real car that can climb the ladder any day for Hp unlike this New 5.0L . If you want a bang out of the box get your stang however you want a bang out of the box and a lot more possible in the future ? Get the Camaro

Has Gm ever disappointed us in HP ever ? The sleeping Giant has woke up I dont see him laying down especially not in HP.

It all boils down to preference, personal bias and funding.

The 2011 Mustang is the "new kid on the block" so they're going to hype it up, as just as the Camaro was heavily promoted in 2009.
