Umm, partially correct.

Motor, yes

It's spelled standard.

6 speed, yes.

3400lb, yet to be seen, could be right.

Track pack, Gt suspension, yes. 3.55 gears, no. 2.73 standard, 3.31 optional. Better tires, I don't know what is currently on a Mustang, so I'll refrain.

I agree with the last part completely. Not too bad for a Ford, and styling is subjective.

Big yawn...it's still a boring Mustang. Doll it up however you want it's still as common to see them as seeing potholes in the road.

I would take a GT 500 version though

The intake is already optimized, but I suppose there are a few horses that can be gained from either a ram-air intake or a "CAI". Ported heads? sure..more aggressive cams (since its a DOHC)..sure..but I'm not sure there is a great deal of N/A power left on the table out of the new 5.0. It will be more difficult to mod than the 5.7L Hemi..and will likely produce less power on a HP per dollar basis.

Put shorty headers, high flow or no cat mid-pipes, a tune and cat back exhaust on a 345 Hemi? you've just picked up 35 RWHP Add in ported heads, a new air intake and a new cam? you've got ~85 RWHP over stock Mind you the 5.7 Hemi is a difficult engine to work on, but has tremendous potential in it.

The LS3 and L99 motors are powerful motors and are FAR easier to work on than the Hemi's (history is repeating itself, yes?) and respond to mods very very well. The LS3 and L99 respond so well to simple mods its a beautiful sight to behold.

Make no mistake..the 5.0 is going to be a very fast motor and the 11' GT is going to be a runner in the 0-60 and 1/4...but it doesnt have the mod potential that the Hemi's do (5.7, 6.1 and 6.4) or the ease of modifications like the LS3's and L99's do.

Ford's brought back the 5.0..and pushed it damn near to its limit, there is only so much you can do on a 5 liter engine while keeping to traditional push rod technology.
Yes and no, Shelby is already going to be offering and SCed 5.0 in the GT350 with at least 500 HP, so that is not bad for a motor that is not out yet. AS for NA, yes, probably pretty tapped. I'd say the biggest gains will come from a good tune, especially with the automatic which, like most today, is probably setup for better fuel mileage. One thing I was wondering, doe anyone know if it has any displacement left in it? I know one big think with the old 302s was adding displacement. Where there is a will there is a way, i see bolt-ons happening quick )no guarantee of results though LOL), of course the more serious stuff will take more time.

No room for increasing displacement. Forced induction will be the only way of significant power increase meaning anything over 7 lbs. will require a tear down with low compression pistons, upgraded rods, etc...

Ford did not leave much room for the N/A folks with this motor. Only downfall. :(

Good read but to be clear I was under the impression that the new 5.0 was dual overhead cam.

Also I do not think the C/R will be that big a deal. 11:1 is not much more than the 10.7:1 the LS3 has and tons of people was FI them. It amazes me that modern motors can run that kind of C/R on pump gas. I remember when 10:1 was consider a bunch. My supercharged Mustang had 9:1 which was consider high for boost. My custom built old school 302 stroked to 345 pushrod Ford small block was 8:1 but made 670HP with 10 PSI.

We've been down this road before, and it simply isn't true. For 2011 the Mustang has already adopted the rear seat/side impact improvements necessary for future safety requirements.....no massive weight gain. The story that the Camaro 'is so heavy because of safety equipment' was nothing more than a redirect trying to distract folks from the real culprit....size.
