I didn't want a Cadillac ats or cts after they retired the v8 option and I don't want a gen 6 Camaro which is smaller and unproven a CADDIMARO if you will, unlike the gen 5 which has been refined and defined, and given a plethora of performance modifications to bolt on to put them at the top of the game. I bought a 2015 before I lost the opportunity to own a new gen 5, with no discounts for it is the car for me and probably I will never sell it, I love it! not ever gonna feel depreciation if I keep it lol

They are all going to depreciate, some more then others. American cars no matter what the model do not hold their value as well as some european models as they age. Thats why they are always a better deal on the used market. I bought mine to turn it into a show car and keep it as a fun summer car. Could care less if it goes up or down it the short term. it will be around for 20-30 years with low miles. The 6th gen is just not going to get the response the 5th gen received. in my opinion, the 6th gen will Not hold it's value as well as the 5th gen. Because the change in styling is not going to be so dramatic as to set it apart. No offense to audio geeks but buying a car because of the audio amenities is just silly. A car is a transportation device, get the mechanics to fit your needs, the audio will be outdated before the car hits the showroom and you can add that crap later. Lol if I get bored, I would just get another garage space and maybe look at that supercharged 6.4 L at that other competitor, not mustang.

when you hit that critical point of 10-15 year old cars it takes a huge hit no way around it. if people start trashing them like they did the third and starting to be the fourth gens finding what you want will cost more. but lets face it people always want the newest thing. but on the upshot they are still pretty desirable.
i bought mine to pay it off and daily drive the shit out of it. when you get i get board and want to trade it in, twin turbos. its cheaper than a new car payment. t tops would get me thinking pretty hard on jumping ship.

When you see a 2012 ZL1 listed new for $60k and today on the used market @ $41k w/ less than 9k on the clock, Yea the market values will continue to drop and drop.

I remember in the 70s people were bailing from their gas guzzling cars and you couldn't give those cars away. My friends and I rodded those cars in the 80s and in the 90s prices went through the roof and not just for pristine ones. Given the high mileage mandates coming down the road, V8 platforms could become scarce in the future. Won't matter to me because I'll still be rockin' the classic styling of the Gen V, faded paint, gray hair and all.

Angrybird is right the 15 mustangs are selling like crazy as the 14's are ignored. I can't imagine all 5 gen owners keeping their camaros especially with a very improved 6 gen. I know I love mine, but if I can get more power, better ride ... as Palmer GA says checkbook is open.. Which will leave a flood of 5 gens which will leave a flood of lower values.. The only saving grace is that the price of cars in general is on the rise..

They will go down, its the nature of the beast. Am i the only person here in a "holding pattern"? I want a gen 5 ss but im waiting for a release of the gen 6 so i can know for sure if i like it or not.
Based on the used prices im seeing now , by the time the 6 gen is released ill be able to get a 5 gen ss for under $20k. If the gen 5s take a big value hit when the 6 comes out ill just be saving more money. The only thing that would definitely make me wait for a 6 gen would be ttops or targa top, and we are all 99% sure it wont have those. |

Well the upside is it might make used Zl1 prices more affordable for some us who want to upgrade from the SS. I'm pretty confident values will drop across the board unless GM pulls off Mustang II with the 6th gen.

Here is a question, look at the new Mustang. I have yet to see a '15 model in person, but from the pictures, I prefer the S197. What is going on with their values?

5th gens don't/won't hold value any more then a Honda civic.. there's a bagillion made/sold each year. They'll deperciate the same way any other mass produced modern car does
