Well since we got rained out again for another track rental day....we pulled the ZL out of the trailer this morning and started fabrication of our larger capacity heat exchanger tank.

Unlike aftermarket supercharger systems, the ZL only utilizes the coolant that is in the front mounted heat exchanger, cooler brick (located inside the supercharger) and whatever is in the coolant lines.

Our new tank will increase the coolant reserve by about 1 gallon (but we will verify when its completed). After track testing last week, several hours on the dyno and street use, we have collected a fair amount of data to work from. As it has been discussed quite often, higher Intake Air Temps can reduce power output quite a bit. Thus far on stock boost levels the factory system seems to hold its own fairly well. However as we push the TVS1900 a bit harder, heat becomes a bigger issue.

We are installing thermocouples in the entry and exit of the system to verify that the additional reserve is a benefit at the higher power levels. Temperatures will be checked under a variety of conditions and will again back up any claim with clinical data and results. Our intake that we posted dyno results a couple weeks ago raised some eyebrows at first glance but three back to back runs at the drag strip coincided with the results.

This is an OUTSTANDING mod for fighting off the dreaded heat soak. More fluid takes longer to heat. The material used on the tank also disapates heat. I love the results I get with mine. I also added a dual fan heat exchanger and I have effectively kissed heat soak goodbye! I never pull timing between runs now.

I see you took care of the hoses that are under that engine cover - can ya take care of the engine cover? Gotta SHOW that engine man!

If you look closely we took care of those ugly factory hoses that drop out from under the plastic engine cover!

We also confirmed its a tick under 2 gallons of additional coolant capacity. Underneath is a quick release drain so it can be dumped quick and refilled with cold water!


Tomorrow we start to see how well it works!

Im sure it will be in Redlines package as their air inlet runs the filter low to gain room for the tank. I dont see this working at all with a factory airbox.

Well since this is all "R&D" we are looking for results first then packaging! We are working on a whole package that incorporates an integration of multiple modifications. Everything will work together.

Our washer bottle is currently removed for this intake but we are working on a revised washer bottle so that function is not deleted.

We have quite a few ZL customers looking for max effort packages so we are starting there and then falling back to lighter setups.

Looks like we got track time for tomorrow so we can put this tank to the test!
