Would removing rear plastic filler panel on hood increase cowl effect?

Anyone know if removing the plastic filler panel on the back of the hood would cause a greater cowl induction effect? Seems if the piece were not there, the engine heat would get out better thus creating a real cowl induction hood.

From what I know Cowl Induction is when Cold High Pressure Air that is built up between the windshield and the hood is forced into the hood by a Cowl. If it is anything like a CAI or Exhaust then yes it could very well create a better effect just by increasing flow space.

But I am pretty sure you would want to make sure there is nothing underneath it majorly important before driving with it off.

Unlike the old muscle cars, cowl induction has little effect on modern engines. Back in the old days removing the high pressure heat with a cowl induction hood would make the engine run more efficient, and give you a bit of extra hp.

Today's cars have all that dialed in through the engine management computer..... it monitors EVERYTHING from intake and exhaust manifold temp and pressure to operating temperature and can make instantaneous adjustments to anything in the engine to make it run the most efficient and powerful.

A cowl induction hood on a 5th gen Camaro serves no other purpose than for show. In fact, if the engine starts to cool more than it should as programed in the engine management it will compensate and actually increase temps as it sees fit.

FASTBALL is dead-on!

As an owner of a 1969 Camaro SS with a L72, the cowl hood does have an affect on induction. As FASTBALL stated correctly, the new Camaro hood looks great, like the 69, but doesn't do anything for air flow management.
