When we pull my upper intake I want to paint it black and the 3800 Series II silver. My question is should I paint it all black then then grind down the paint on the raised part to make it look silver without painting it silver or how should I go about doing it. I also plan on doing my valve covers.

i would prep the raised letters then tape them and paint the cover then remove tape. you can paint the whole thing then when you sand the raised letters you will flake the paint around them.

What he said. Blue painters tape would be the best idea.

Just clean the heck out of the intake and use a green scotch brite pad.iuRinse the intake odd with water, let it dry and then wipe it down with alcohol. You can paint an hour later.

Prep is everything, take your time and do it right. I would use high temp paint.

Wow, I really like what you've done with the car so far! It's come quite a ways too, I might have missed it but did you get rid of the DEPO headlights? In the pic of the car at the track from a couple months ago they look to be stock? I could be wrong tho.

Nice work!
