how to put songs/playlists on thumbdrive
im pretty sure this has been touched on in other threads however I cant find it.
Basically i want all of my music ready for when i go get the car. I just got a 8 gig flash drive(16 bucks w shipping) and should be getting the car in the next week or two. So how do I load organize the flash drive? can I just put everything on the flash drive on the main directory then put in saved winamp playlists and the car will find them? or do i need to organize songs/artists/albums into folders and do it that way? Additionally i have a lot of comedy CDs that i normal dont listen to but on long road trips like to have, can I store these in a folder on the drive and pull them up whenever? sorry for so many questions, it would just be nice to know so the when i first go get the car i dont spend an hour trying to figure out how to play a song thanks guys!

I used MS media player and it was pretty easy to rip the songs from a CD and sync them to the thumb drive. They are not file system organized BUT the sound system will filter the songs by album, artist, or just play them at random - what ever you tell it to do. You can use the sound system menu to start playing an album, artist, or just play randomly.
the car does not seem to remember what I was listening to if I shut the car off and start the car back up again. It will start playing something else. I am sure there are other ways to load the music. That was the first way I tried. Hope this helps, -Mark. |

Just wandering how to use playlist from I.phone 3G? When I plugged I.phone in it just started randoming playing songs. Didn't mess with much phone battery wasbought dead. But if anyone has any secrets or more experience with it just wandering easy way to load playlist? Guess I could read owners manual but I usually like the trial by fire way instead of easy way.

Don't over think it. Just copy and paste your songs (WMA or MP3 only) from your computer to the flash drive. It doesn't care what the folder structure is. It won't use it for anything. They can be organized into folders or not. The car will use the embedded information (aka ID3 tags) in all the songs to build the index which it will use to give you the options to play by artist, genre, album, etc. You can also use playlists although I'm not sure what format it accepts, I'm assuming M3U (I don't have my car and my previous question on this didn't get answered). The only difference is that these must be located in the root of the USB drive, not in any folders.

You can search the thumb drive for "folders" and that works well. Just use the menu to find the folder you want to play from and go from there.
