The engines they build though are extreme. I would think 1000 pulls = bulletproof and broke in.

I have to think some of the engine dyno work is not just to get Bruce's motor running perfectly, but also to gather data for that build. These motors are not mass produced, they are one of a kind. I would imagine they are doing research and development studies with every motor they build.

That was on the Code Red mule engine per the customer. They wanted to stress test it in many configurations over a period of time for warranty reasons. They even requested to run it until the head gaskets blew out so that they knew what its limits were. So to be fair the majority of the pulls were requested by the customer.

For a personal engine - nah that's way too much.

You should see some of the stress testing we have done for the boat engines we run. It's ridiculous.
Mercury Marine took a couple of their 500HP's and ran them for 50 hours WOT. Then came the 300 hour test.

Must have been those fine Stillwater, Oklahoma motors

...Did any of those LT5's ever slip out the back door and into boats?

HP500's are 502 BBC's. Tight machining and forged everything. 1 Hp/CI which makes them ultra reliable. Even beating the dog snot out of them in offshore racing.

There's a Merc plant in Stillwater, I was just giving a cheap whorish shout out to my Oklahoma peeps ... in your build thread

I think I might sell out and retire early in Florida... seems to be a lot more over there than retired folks and alleygaters
I know for a fact a bra company in Fla would go broke... never seen so many braless gals in all my life!

Good god man I just don't see why.
I don't think it was for calibration as much as wear...
In the vid he's showing the motor torn down afterwards and checking wear areas. After all those cycles he shows a bushing that had a mic scratch still showing from when the block was put together. Not too shabby.
