Ignorant thread. If Ford sent out a recall, what's the big deal? Every automaker has problems with their cars.
The guy in the video is an idiot. At 100,000 miles+ I would expect something to go wrong with a car. My mom's 2007 Tahoe's transmission had to be replaced after 6,000 miles along with a plethora of other problems down the road. Her 2011 Tahoe has a laggy transmission as well. My brother's 2008 Malibu with 50k miles has an awful transmission that kicks constantly and barely knows Drive from Reverse. And guess what? No dealer knows how to fix it and Chevrolet won't replace it. After hitting about 12,000 miles, I saw that even my Camaro has an awful transmission that never really knows what gear it wants to be in, so often times I find myself driving in Manual mode to avoid it. Chevy doesn't make good transmissions. Don't talk about how bad Ford is when Chevy honestly has more problems to worry about. Oh, and stop humping Chevy's leg. They are in no way superior to their competition at this point regarding most of their vehicles.

I watched the first 2 - 3 minutes of that video...I was very entertained...laughing my butt off. Did anyone else not think it was funny?????????? Maybe it sucked after I stopped watching but before that I was cracking up!
Other than that...yeah it sucks about the fire recall....thats a big blow to what is suposed to be a big win for Ford. I for one hope it doesn't hurt their reputation too bad because we NEED American brands to become known for quality and to lose the "cheap" and "bad-quality" stigma that so many think is common with domestic brands. I work with people that swear they will never buy domestic again because their "Dodge Neon" or whatever car they had in college with high mileage was crappy. Makes me just want to do a face-palm right there. But I agree that this thread goes way overboard. Blue...I enjoy the updates on new cars you tend to bring us, but this time your just going a bit in the biased direction...no doubt.

I disagree, it is not the transmission that is the issue, it is all the damn computer programming required to meet the EPA and CAFE standards by requiring the car to keep the RPMs low. There is nothing wrong with the transmission in of itself, evident by your comment that keeping it in manual makes a difference.. Now the older GMT-800s trucks, with I believe was the 4L60E transmissions, yeah those were problematic, but again, not really mechanical, one of their biggest issues was their electronics shared the same fuse as the O2 and MAF sensors, also again horrible programming, the majority of the issues with that series was the PCM, not mechanical, which is why the dealer failed at correcting the issues, the tech was looking for mechanical failures when in fact it was a programming failure.

I got a recall notice in the mail a few months ago for my trailblazer ss (window switch may catch fire)...the letter said at this time they do not have the parts to actually fix it, but in the meantime, i should only park it outside just to be safe. Nice, now there's a cover your ass letter.
Recalls are not a new thing for any automaker....but the least they can do it actually fix the effin issue. I actually like the new fusion (will look at them when the wife needs a new car). The ones at SEMA were friggin cool.

Ford has actually had 3 issues with engine fires with the Eco-Boost 4 cyl. Finding the cause of an intermittent problem that burns up all traces of the problem is extremly hard. Imagine having someone tell you to fix the light that goes out once in awhile in a warehouse, without telling you which light it is. Every carmaker has problems, how they own up to the problems tells their character.
