Hood Wrap

So it appears a stone or something hit the hood and actually tore threw the wrap as I can see red paint. No dent just cut, tore the vinyl. Is there any fix for this besides having whole hood re-wrapped?

Post a picture of it. Seeing how big it is will help.

I have some rock chips in mine. I have done nothing to repair them. As I view the wrap as a consumable and will need to be replaced at some point.

I believe people have used plastidip to repair the areas.

This will happen again unless you put some paint protection over the wrap.

This.

I've also heard of using the plasti dip. Me personally, I wouldn't repair it unless it's a big spot

Wrap

If it's in the center part of the hood, you can wrap over it with carbon fibre wrap. You can even the edge with pin striping tape in the color of your car or in gloss black. I have my original hood hanging on my garage wall done like that with a 1/8 stripe. Looks great, got a lot of compliments. Its just hanging on the wall if anybody needs one.

Thanks for the ideas and help! Seems GM has discontinued the wrap but you can buy it in a 60x80 sheet from 3M. Also the guy putting the stinger on my brothers ZO6 said he can wrap it for $180 with a better material than the 3M vinyl. He also suggested to just paint it.

What's a better material and I've heard painting is not all the great.

The hood is the color of your car beneath the wrap.

There's something about the paint not holding up and staining or something like that. Heard it's ok for small items but not good for a large part like a hood.

I can see the red paint where the tear is. I had three mopars with black painted hoods and they was no problem and one was DD. Boy is that showing my age. Supposedly EXPEL has a black covering but I don't see it on there site.

The wrap on my hood was ruined on the lot before I ever bought it. The dealer offered to do a new wrap or paint. I picked paint and am very glad I did! just make sure it's done well.
