Flat black is nice. I would've gone this route were it not for the unbearable summer heat. Don't let the old wives tales scare you away, matte finishes are only hard to take care of if you don't take care of your car. It's pretty much conclusive that those on C5 take very good care of their cars, so it'll require the same, maybe a bit more care than a gloss finish just a whole different method. Just carry a bottle of quick detailer to get rid of stuff you spot in between washes.

These instructions were on the site I linked:

- Do not use wax, detail spray, ArmorAll, or any products made for normal paint. Use only products specifically developed for matte finish paint.
- Do not use products that are even mildly abrasive, such as polishes, glazes, or rubbing compounds.
- Do not use mechanical cleaners or polishers.
- Do not use terrycloth, cloth or paper towels. Do not rub the finish vigorously — this will burnish the paint finish causing a permanent shiny spot. Shiny spots cannot be removed.
- Do not use commercial car wash facilities or their shine enhancement products. Most carwash brushes, large mechanized "towels" and shine enhancement products can damage matte paint.
- Remove foreign substances such as insect remains, tar, and road debris using a soft applicator and a mild solvent, saturate and soak area before cleaning — rub lightly.
- Hand-wash with a soft wash mitt and mild cleaning product safe for matte paint.
- Use microfiber cleaning cloths with alcohol-based window cleaner, for basic surface clean-up.

Not necessarily true..

All the matt black on my car is vinyl. More durable, easier to clean/wax/dress, and much cheaper to fix.

You can't polish it, and depending on the clear coat might not even be able to wax it. I would be careful even rubbing it too hard when you wash and dry it or you my burnish a spot to be glossier than the rest

Good luck.

Good luck.

Its harder for a lot of guys to paint matte finishes because they cannot cover up their mistakes by wet sanding and buffing.

They have some matte clearcoats out there, but most painters just hit it with a one shot deal. If it has crap in the paint they have to do it over.
