Camaro5 the second coming smack talk thread

Welcome all you newbies to the camaro5 league. Feel free to post up any questions you may have and may the best team (me) win!

If you have never used yahoo fantasy football before, here are some traits of the league.

Draft order will be randomly selected by Yahoo 30 minutes before the actual draft. You will be assigned to a spot when you log in up to 30 minutes before the draft.

Each person has 90 seconds to make a pick.

The draft order is a snake draft (1,2,3,...11,12, 12, 11, 10...3,2,1, 1, 2, 3...)

No can't cut list.

Trade deadline is sometime in November I believe.

This is not a keeper/dynasty league, so draft for this year only.



Now down to business: Does the Friday or Saturday before week 1 work better for people? I was thinking around 7pm on Friday Aug.31 or in the morning on Saturday Sept.1 . Times are Pacific Time Zone.

Mindz, I forgot to answer your inquiry in the first post. Either date works for me.
After I take the Second League Championship, please move my squad into the First League and take out the squad that places Last. Seems only fair...just sayin.

haha, I'd love to take the top 6 teams from both leagues and make that the "first" league and have a "b" league. That way it's a constant challenge to stay in the top league. "top" league is the feeder league for the keeper league too.

I hear ya. The "key" is to come out with a strong draft. Looking forward to seeing how this plays out for us first-timers. We should know after the first few weeks into the season who the "contenders" are and who the "pretenders" are.

You'd be suprised. We've had our Tim Tebows...PQ started off 0-6 and then went 6-1 or something like that, only to get knocked out of the playoffs by yours truly.

Some people start off 7-0 and then miss out on the playoffs due to injury plagues. It's all about who picks the most consistant team. I'm figuring that people who aren't signed up by the time I get back from Camaro5fest aren't interested and I will be opening the league up to more people at that time.

I wonder why this thread is so much more active than the other smacktalking thread. Any suggestions for the league name? Camaro5 IV (II) seems like a "B" league when right now both leagues are even.

Looks like you're a Fantasy Football veteran just like myself. I've had good teams and also some bad ones. And you're right about having a consistent team. I always look forward to trying to find that "gem" that no one has heard about or thinks will do well in the NFL. It's about trying to find that "Rookie" that's going to have a monster year. As for the League name, I can't think of any that would suit us, so I would just leave it alone. I don't mind being placed in the "B" league. I just want to COMPETE!! Hope to meet you sometime during the FEST next week!!

This thread needs more people to talk some smack. I'll tell ya what, dap MIGHT make the playoffs. However, if it comes down between him and I..... I don't like his chances

As far as draft time goes, I know I said that weekend would be good a while ago, but some things have changed and its screwing up another one of my leagues as well. I have a hot air baloon festival the 31st and 1st. It's gonna take up mornings and go late into the night. Sunday would be my only day I could make it work. If that doesn't work, no biggie. I have no problem setting my pre draft rankings to get my team. I understand how hard it can be to get everyone together at a specific time for a draft.

We can set the date to a Sunday if Dap is ok with that. I'll ask Clint, but I think he'll be fine with it. RJ, does Sunday work for you?
