Broke passenger mirror

Was turning into my driveway and got a little too close to the basketball hoop. Heard a loud bang and I knew I had done something to the mirror. The mirror cables are still intact and you can move it around. My dad thinks that I can take it somewhere and they can use longer screws to fix the mirror. I went to Chevy and they said they couldn't fix it because it would rust. They are quoting me around 300 for a new mirror. Any ideas on what I should do

Possibly in the pictures they look black. I was curious and chatted with a rep from the go-parts link and they said it comes in black primmer so yes you would have to have it painted. Any good body shop can do it for you a lot cheaper then what the dealership quoted you even if you have to have it painted. Paint it yourself, I painted all the items under my hood and the rims, just take your time and use thin coats. If you use a clear coat just make sure it is the same brand as the paint. When I first attempted to paint my engine cover I used dupi-color paint, let it dry over night and then sprayed it with rust-oleum clear coat and it bubbled the paint. I asked a friend of mine that works at a body shop and he said that every company that makes paint uses a different formula and only can be used with their product. Do not if that is true or not but after removing the messed up paint (PITA) and used high temp rust-oleum paint and clear coat it came out perfect. Good luck.

Did you buy a new one, paint and install it yet? If not, you can buy a used one already painted off the classifieds on this forum. You can also upgrade to heated if you desired that feature. If only there was a guide on how to do it http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...95#post6577995

My mirror looked the same after an incident on the freeway a few weeks ago. Put some JB Weld in the bolt holes and called it a day.
