HELP with Rims
Alright guys, so I just recently purchased my Camaro 2LS, it's my first BRAND new car and I'm only 18 so it's all I could afford for now! I paid it in full though so no payments
Anyways, I'm thinking about getting 20 inch rims, and P zero's or something, but when I purchase the rims online, or wherever I purchase them, where do I go to get them installed on my new tires, AND put on my car? Just need some help because I'm lost ;/ -Thanks |

Congrats on the new ride! Look around in the classified threads in your certain area or in the wheels/tires where tons of people sell their stock rims for good prices.

Wheel specialists inc did mine and they came out great. When the wheels/tires arrived all I had to do was put the wheels on and then run over to the dealership for a quick TPMS relearn. Painless. Check out their site or hit up Camaro5 user: sean@wsiaz.com. He's done quite a few Camaro's and will get you set straight. As far as browsing for wheels there is this thread:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53913 It's incredibly long and inconvenient to browse (and should be boiled down into an actual gallery), but there are tons of awesome setups to check out. Hope this helps! Last edited by 6bangerBOOM; 04-04-2014 at 06:18 AM. |

Congrats on your new car and especially paying for it rather than racking up a big debt. You sound like a very responsible young man. I just ordered a second set of 20" wheels and tires from Tire Rack. I wanted a complete set up so I could do my own swaps. So, I got them pre-mounted and balanced with their own TPMS amd sprung for the tool to reset the TPMS so I'm not dependent on a shop to do it. I went with a UHP A/S on this set of wheels so that I can save the OE Pirelli summers from highway trips and not get caught out in the snow next fall when the weather changes.

Here is some advice, since I remember when I was 18, had an IROC-Z at the time and was trying to keep up with the car scene on an teenagers budget.
There are many SS owners out there who have swapped their nice 20" SS wheels/tires for some aftermarket sets. I would poke around the classifieds and the regional forums(where are you from?) and see if any other camaro5 members are lookign to sell their stock SS wheels and tires. I bet that you could find a nice set, with great treadware left for a great price! Also, I bet the selling member, if local would be willing to even help you swap on the new wheels. I know if you were here in FL I would have done it for you a few months ago when I sold my rims. a nice set of 20" gunmetal, polished or black SS wheels wil really set off your 2LS and go easy on your wallet.

You can buy both the wheels and tires AND the tpms (tire pressure monitoring sensor) for them (they mount inside the tire/wheel) and have them assembled and balanced, then shipped to you. I did just that when I bought a set for my 2011 2SS. I bought mine online from tirerack.com and they were shipped UPS. Once they come, you just have to take them somewhere to have them mounted on your car (local tire store or dealer if you don't want to change them yourself), then they have to have the TPMS sensors 'keyed' to your car. The dealer will usually do this for free (it only takes 2 min) or you can spend around $60 to buy the TPMS tool and do that yourself as well. Or, you can just go to your favorite local tire store and have them order and install whatever wheel/tire you want. |

Tirerack is amazing they come ready for your car like everyone said just get the TPS done. Other options is Discount Tire or any Midas dealer will mount and balance and TPS them for you (for a price of course). Dont jump the gun on getting rid of your old wheels and tires. If you have winter they are great so you dont tear up your nice 20's.

I live in Arizona, it's basically summer all year round, we get NO snow what so ever, and the coldest it gets is probably 50's-60's.
