I'd take the better performance anyday though. 315hp for a GT is a little, well, girly. Nowhere near the competition.
Since when is 315hp and 325tq girly?
That's 5hp shy of what the '68 GT's had and nobody on this site will say that the original Bullitt Mustang is girly.

Massive FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always loved the current stang, but this new one if freakin' FUGLY. If I am going to buy a Shelby, I better go now because when the '09's are gone, I'm gone. I was sure I'd open this thread to find eveyone talking about how ugly this new stang is, so I'm very surprised to see most of you actually like it. What are you all smokin'? Com'on! This thing is Hideous. Especially the Sh!t brown leather.

+1

The interior looks like a nice improvement, but the outside, definitely a step back.

In all seriousness, I'm not a big fan of the reworked body but the interior is a little better that the current version. I still prefer the '05-'09 body, however, over this one.

As for the S197 Mustags being ugly in the outside, you really are reaching. If it were not for Ford going "retro" with the new Mustang, I doubt you would see a Challenger or, gasp, the Camaro as you have it now. There is a reason Ford drew its inspiration from the '60's; because those cars sold like hotcakes and are still considered the most desirable (and beautiful) pony car they ever built.

Now why would GM choose to take the same route as Ford and Dodge and create a new Camaro based on the classic bodystyle? Maybe because they know that is what will sell and compete with the other brands. (And I'm speaking in terms of sales, not performance.)

Holden did it right with the new Camaro, for the most part, which is why I plan to put one in the garage next to the GT500 in a year or so.

now normally, I'd be the first in line to bash a Mustang just because I enjoy the rivalry... but I have to agree with every single thing in this post... the 2010 model isn't better looking, it doesn't do anything new other than a couple of interior tweaks and the fact that the V6 looks better than the V8 should keep the V6 sales well above the V8 sales and keep the Mustang's crown as leader of the pack solidly in place.

in my opinion, the 2007-2009 Shelby GT500 is as close to perfection as the current Mustang gets... modifying the design with this BMW-esque front end and ugly taillights just doesn't do anything for me... I wish Ford the best of luck, since they need every sale just as much as GM does, but I believe they've hurt the brand more than they've helped the brand with the 2010 model.

When the competition has you beat by 100 hp.

That was back in '68. It is now 40 years later and Ford has put out a car that falls 100hp short of its competition. What was manly then is weak now.

If you have an original Bullitt you are manly for owning a classic car. If you have a '10 Mustang you are the weakest of the new three and will be regarded as such.

But that was back in '68. In 2008/09 Japanese family sedans with V6s are putting out nearly that much. The 370Z handily trumps that with a V6. Our V6 nearly matches that.

IMO, the bigger improvement is with the interior.

Exterior: Went from bland w/o a body kit to just plain ugly... no bias; that's just how I feel. I'll probably like it better when I see it this week at the Auto Show.

Interior: A step up. The seats and door accents are nice, but the center stack and everything else looks parts-bin uninspired. Hate it or love it (I love it), you can't say they didn't try with the Camaro's interior.

Ambient lighting was an option on '08 Mustangs. Actually looks like the Camaro copied the Mustang idea on ambient lighting, and not the other way around. And now for 2010 the ambient lighting is standard equipment on the Mustang GT premium.

Remember that the 2011 Mustang will get new powerplants. I assure you that those engines will give the Camaro a run for its money.

And it may not be the weakest. Weight is a big player in this game.

I like it. But, the rumor is it will still have the same 4.6 until the 2011 model. Why would they do that? Who would buy this model knowing the next year would have about 100 extra horsepower?
