Trading in for LS3 RS, need opinions
I'll be trading in my L99 2ss vert for a LS3 coupe here pretty soon.
Same model year, just bored with the automatic already. I know for sure I want the RS package, but I'm not sure if I should spend the extra cash on the 1LE package. Would you guys say that the kit that comes with the 1LE is better than a suspension package from BMR/Eibach? |

I don't know where in Ca are you but if you go to SF a lot, the LS3 has this stupid Hill Assist. Not fun driving in San Fran. The Hill Assist causes me to stall from time to time.

I don't know how much modding you plan to do, but the 3.91 gears and ZL1 fuel pump are nice to have pre-installed from the factory. As for the suspension, I've never driven a standard SS but my 1LE handles better than any other car I've ever driven. I love it.

Do a search, there is a thread on replacing the yaw sensor with one from an auto car that disables the HSA. I bought a used one on ebay for around $20, going to install it when I replace my shifter over the winter.

1LE comes with 3.91 gears installed already? This is something that I was going to add in.

3.91 gears but different gearing in the transmission so it isn't really like having a 3.91 gear swap in a non 1LE car. Its built for the track but actually a tad slower in straight lines.

I have the same car and the same thought but I would only trade up for a 16 or 17 1LE.

I would definitely get the LE package. I'm also bored of the slushbox.

I also like the 16+ Red Stripe SS with the smoked rear taillights

I've had it for a little over a year, but I want to get serious about modding now.
Doesn't make sense to me to mod a car that already has the heavier weight going against it and add an extra 150 or so pounds for the soft top. And honestly where I live in California it's either freezing cold or 110 degrees. only about 2 months out of the year that's good convertible weather. |
