I had JDP which I loved but wanted halos for the DRLs and didn't want the SMD dots showing which hate! Prefer the smooth and continuous like the headlights.
Anyway I had to get NightOwl for the DRLs and the LEDs didn't match with several colors but with NO there is a color adjust so you can essentially fine tune your colors, use your phone to operate the system and the only change I needed to do was switch control modules.
Like the new setup, just haven't gotten use to the program in having different patterns for car shows etc......

In case anyone is still cutting open DRLs

I finally got around to starting this mod, 6 years later. Fortunately, I had a scrap DRL to section and see the proper way to make the cut first, so I thought I'd share. FWIW, I tried a carpet knife first. Two broken blades and you can see how far I didn't make it.

If you use a 1mm thick dremel cut-off wheel and cut with the curf to the clear lense side (red in crappy illustration) you can get a nice cut and will not get into the row of round ends of the reflectors inside the plastic chrome cup, which would look awful when you were all done. Just use the grey edge as a guide and don't cut it. I put several wraps of masking tape around each side of the cut to help guide me and prevent unwanted scratches.

Hope this helps someone.

I hope you have the app from the App Store to run the lights! Just saying it isn’t available anymore. I lost my app in a phone change never thought of keeping the old phone about the time my headlights stuff got damaged in an accident. Took a bit to get where I wanted to reinstall again and find out the app is no longer available.

Nice chef!

We have the apps saved, but just found that the Apple one won't work.

I have the apps saved and have frozen my iPod in time, sadly. I won't even hook it to a laptop to update music, for fear it will run an update and hose my App.

Praying nothing ever goes wrong with it.

Awesome it truly is an awesome system. I was concerned you were doing all that work to put the lights in unaware of the application not available anymore. Would get all the work done go look for the app and uhoh.

Basically the situation I’m in myself have all the stuff but no app to run it all. So I refusing to reinstall it until I figure out how to control it all.

Look on eBay for an older ipod. Research how to roll back the software version to the correct era. Install your old app.

Pretty sure this can all be done.

I have an old phone and Tablet that i use. I had to install a 'Shareit' app in order to get it on the devices.
I see that people here are looking for the one for i-whatever. Might as well buy a cheap old android and do it that way

That’s doable for sure but ya have to have a separate device just for sole purpose of running your lights. I get it that it’s not big deal or horrible. Buy if that device goes to crap you gotta go through a whole set of trouble to get back to controlling it again. I believe sjm has me on the correct path to run my system on my current phone. And if I have to get a new phone something happens to mine I should be good to go without much fuss.

I hear ya. I wanted to do the same. but the newer Android OS doesn't support the app. I have it on my phone, but it just won't connect. The older versions still work. I still have modules and light pipes that I never connected. I went to someone and asked about changing out the controller to a different kind. When I told him how many channels I needed, he basically said to find someone else. There was no product comparable to NightOwl. I wish it was still around.

Contact sjm autoprod if your still interested. He has me set up pretty good with 2 controllers controlling my grill lights, rs halos, demon eyes, and fog halos. I haven’t gotten it all installed quite yet and set up. But it looks like it’ll suit my needs

Finally got them done!

Bought these in 2014 and bought DRLs for Christmas. Long wait, but still worth it!
