Mace Cams Install - Special Tools

Hello C5,

I'm considering swapping out the cams and valve springs for Mace's and have a few questions for anyone that has done the install:

What special tools are required and what are their part numbers? Based on my research I'll need the cam retainers, timing chain retainer and valve spring compressor.

Found EN-48383 for the cam retainers - is this for the set of three? EN-46105 keeps popping up in my searches too, not sure what's what. In either case it looks like Mace has these anyway.

Anyone know a P/N for the timing chain retainer? Would hate to take off the timing cover if I didn't have to (requiring more tools/time). Found EN-48313 - hopefully I can rent it because it seems expensive for how often I'll use it! Mace also has one of these but for $510...

Any recommendations on a spring compressor (engine will be staying in the car). A popular one seems to be one where you place on top of the spring and smack with a hammer but I foresee the spring retainers going flying every which way and not being able to find them... Guess I could put a rag around the spring and hopefully catch anything that shoots out.

Anything else I'm missing? Never done this before but based on my reading and watching I feel like I can do this, just want to know that I have all the right tools before ripping everything apart.

Any help is appreciated!

Anyone replace the HPFP (high pressure fuel pump)? The guides and videos I'm seeing all suggest replacing the HPFP gasket/o-ring and the piping from the pump to the rails, but I can't find these part numbers anywhere. Did you reuse the gaskets and piping when replacing or just reuse the old stuff? Engine has ~30,000 miles so fairly new/young.

I haven't changed the HPFP on a Camaro yet but I've never once re-used gaskets on HPFPs, definitely get new ones if you're taking them off. The high pressure fuel lines are all one-time-use only, and will require replacement with new parts if you have to remove them
