actually, not. the camaro, and most muscle/sports cars have a very limited appeal. the best selling of them rarely sell more than 100k a year. to most people they're impractical and unappealing. hell, got so bad for awhile all but the mustang disappeared. unless things change, there will always be more of these cars than buyers. your just projection your own love of it onto everyone else.

I've probably owned 30 cars in my life. Everything from Corvettes to pickup trucks. None of them got compliments like the 5th Gen Camaro. None were even close. Even after 5 years of production, I get at least one compliment every time I drive my car. Everyone from little kids to grandparents... they all love this car.

I know what you are saying and if it were any other car I've had, I would agree. There is something special about the 5th gen, and it's not just a personal projection... I agree with Eastwood-SS - It is a badass car and everybody wants one. They may not be able to get one yet - too many kids, bills, etc... but they all want one and one day those people will drive the used price of these cars.

It is only worth what someone will pay for it. Nothing more.

Yawn!!! Who cares... Enjoy it...

If anyone is wanting top dollar out of it they would be better off selling it now cause it's only going to go down from here...

Looking back through history, there's only been a couple of cars that generated that much excitement and admiration from everyone, not just the folks who owned them. The Tri5 chevy for example.

And the generations that will be restoring these cars are the ones growing up with electronics everywhere. Diagnosing and repairing these cars will be a breeze for them. It won't be a scary unknown to them like it is to many current car owners.

Production numbers

Gen 1 699,138
Gen 2 1,936 869

Gen 4 615,574
Gen 5 500,000

Couple of the things I think you didn't account for is that the second gen was 12 model years long, with the third being 11yrs and 4th being 10yrs respectfully. The 5th gen is only 6 model years old. Another is the fact that the 5th gen is made WAYYYYY better than previous generations. They will stand the test of time much better. For this reason alone I don't think they will be all that rare in the future. If there are still a ton of them in the future this will drive prices down.

When I bought my 5th gen I thought it would hold its value pretty well if I kept it in great condition with low miles. Nope, wrong. There are just way too many of them. When you account for how many got produced by year they rival most other generation years except for the 1st generation cars.

I saw my cars value plumit more and more every year even though I was putting less than 5k miles on it a year. When I knew I wanted a 6th gen and my cousin made me a good offer on my 5th gen I took it knowing that the value would really start to plumit once the 6th gen came out.

They will be worth a lot after the Government makes gasoline engines impossible to produce. They are raising the required Fleet MPG so damn high its impossible for the big displacement v8s from surviving much longer...

... I remember back when we first got computer controlled ignition systems and throttle body EFI. Everyone said the same thing "No one will be able to work on these cars." "Where will people get parts to fix these things 20 years from now?" ...

..and now? It's nothing to repair a 1985 vehicle. They are actually considered to be very simple and basic. The aftermarket supplies everything needed to update them to modern technology. The same thing will happen with the 5th Gen.

My is worth more to me but I am curious what my stock 2012 ZL1 will be worth 25 years from now with only 1885 of them made that year and 10 of those have been totaled..... that we know of any way.

$1500 then is about $10,000 now - Inflation. In that perspective, and the fact 1969 was 46 years ago, makes a huge difference.

Simply put, how does anyone know what the value will be in 20+ years on ANY CAR. That's just a no win argument. LOL

Isn't a split window like a 100k car?

Nonetheless, the exception not the rule.

That is why there are a dozen threads about it, each with a dozen pages. Wait till we talk about how the younger crowd does not deserve them unless they paid out of their own pocket. Not sure why we worry about that if these will all be worthless a few years.
