If they do the the recall on only one key, will the other original switchblade key work with no problems?

I have a solution to the recall problem. Who wants a key and a separate fob on their key ring? Not me. Pm me for info.

if your talking about putting the blade back in the fob its been done and explained here. best thing to do though is just dont do the recall. Its voluntary so not required to be done.

I haven't done the recall on my 2014 2LT and don't plan on letting them do it. I think it is a waste and especially hate their solution.
When I was test driving the 2015 2SS the salesmen had it in his hand and I thought it was the regular switch blade, but then noticed it was a separate key with the switchblade empty where the key should be. Pretty damn lame. Is there anyway to convert a new key to the switchblade? I am 6ft and I can't touch the key unless I really tried to. Definitely not while driving.

Sorry for taking a big step back. I understand that this issue is minor to most of you, and the fix they do is also funny. I am about to buy a 2012 SS and I am 6'4", do you think this could cause me any problem? Anybody can please shot a picture of the "issue", like the position of the key and the fix? Thank you!

When I took delivery of my 2015 two months ago, it came with the crippled fob and the separate key. The dealer offered to sell me a new, fully functional fob and program it for the car. I was going to take him up on that, but I'll try the reversal procedure first. It seems easy enough to do.

I bought my 2015 this month and the key/fob thing was sprung on me, much to my dismay. I tried to have the dealer cut me a new key and they said they do not cut the new keys, and if one is needed it takes weeks to get a replacement......a local locksmith said he can "most likely cut a key" but I did not even go to him yet as he cannot do a "blade key" only a normal key blank if it's possible for him to do it at all they said. I actually had thoughts of not buying the Camaro due to the key fob BS and going back to the Ford dealer I was at the day before, or even the Dodge dealer as I was actually planning on getting a Challenger instead of a GM product (after 13 Corvettes I had enough of their BS and started buying Ford products instead of GM....and I will be going back to Ford on the next purchase in October this year when the other lease runs out) and I should have gone with my feelings before buying the Camaro. It is a decent car but it has a lot of stupid design features that should never have been put into play, when compared to other brands.

I agree that the key fob recall sounds like a hack job. If you're going to effectively fix the problem they should change our ignition to a push start that is only active when you're inside the car with the key fob. Degrading aesthetics because of their initial design flaw seems like it would depreciate the true value of the car. Fix it right to the same standards if not better or don't fix it at all.

I'm thinking of ordering new keys for mine so I can have a key done up for the recall. I opt'd out of the key recall, signed all the paperwork but still getting calls from, OnStar, autonation, along with emails and letters from GM. I lost count of how many times I have told everyone I opt'd out cause if my knee could get anywhere near that key while it is in the ignition.... it would be a miracle!

2013 equinox key fob is the same as our car. (cost 50 to 80 @ the dealer) eBay even cheaper.
Any good lock Smith will cut the key. (30 bucks) now programing! Place your working key into your ignition turn the key to the on position, (do not start) when the beeping stops, (emeditily after) Turn it off and put the new key in and turn it on. Wait till the beeping stops and the embolization light goes out...... You are good to go. Enjoy Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
