loud static pop when using ipod

When listening to ipod using usb port I occasional get a very loud electronic pop noise. So loud I'm afraid it will blow my speakers. Then for a while nothing & I think okay, it was just a fluke & gone now. Then suddenly it happens again. Have tried an old i pod (used to be my son's - first gen I think) & a more recent one too. Happens less with the newer one but still get a few. The last time it was so loud that for a second I thought something happened to my car. Took it out. Anyone else have this happen? Any ideas on what the problem is or how to fix it? Love my Camaro but love my tunes too.

My ipod nano has done this as well. I have just been using a 8gb flash drive instead.

My Ipod plugged into the USB port has done the same thing. The first time it happened I thought a rock had hit my windshield. It was VERY loud and made me flinch. It's probably happened 5 or 6 times now in 7 months.

I had it with mine, but it was more like a static sound than a loud popping. Thought it might be the connector coming loose or something so I tried that, kept going. Turned the power off the whole radio and back on...still did it. Switched to my CD and listened to that. Got out of my car to run into the store for 10 min or so and when I got back in I tried the iPod and it was fine. Been two weeks and hasn't happened since.

My iPod cuts out, without a pop, but just seems to drop off. When I check it, it is charging, but it is as if it "forgot" it was connected. After unplugging and re-plugging it will immediately play again from where it left off. Has happened a handful of times since April.

Mine did it yesterday. It was raining pretty hard and I thought it was starting to hail. Then I figured out it was the iPod!

Mine does it occasionally too, but al lI do is unplug it for about a minute, then plug it back in. It doesn't do it too often though.

codeman71 is looking into this issue. Hopefully we will have a fix soon. Still looking for input from others having similar problems & any patterns of when/how it happens. Thanks for responses letting me know it is not just mine.
