Screw in tire

Well the good news is I found it before driving 12 hours to the fest. I is about 2" in from the side wall. I that far enough it to get it patched? I pulled it out and the screw was pretty short. I soaped it up and can see a small bubble pop about every 30 seconds so I need to patch it. I looked up some posts on the forum and some have said a plug/patch is the best? I don't track the car but was going to try a couple passes on the strip and the camaro cross at the fest. Any advice for me?

Thanks,
Mr V

2" from the sidewall is fine, take it somewhere that will patch it from the inside and not make a bigger hole to get a plug in it.

How old are the tires? Had same prob last year on my winter set...put in a plug...zero leak...you patch it gotta pull the tire..patch...remount AND re-balance...$$$$ worth it on a low mileage set...plug it if old and save...takin a plug kit with me just in case....see ya there!!!

btw - ran a couple of 1/4 runs (9!) with this...

Are these newish tires with road hazard? Repairs (well, punctures) void most manufacturer speed ratings, if not all for summer tires. If these are newish summer tires and you have road hazard coverage, talk to your tire dealer about replacement. This has happened to me and all I paid for the replacement cost was labor and shop fees (new tire was comp'd).

I've used those kits with the sticky strip that you push in and then pull out halfway.

Plug it - forget all about it. I've done many over the years, never had a problem.
