Weld RTS s71 wheel review?

Anyone here with the above mentioned wheels run them on the street, road course, or autoX? I know a lot seem to use them for drag racing but I was hoping to run a squared 18x10 or 20x10 set up. And use then on the road course because they are so light. Comments? Advice?

I wouldn't go 18" for the road track. Less sidewall would be much better.

So 20's would be the way to go? I don't believe they make a 19 inch option

For the road track absolutely. I like your idea of a square setup too.

I have 18" Welds for the drag strip and my stock 20's for road track/autox.

Im in the planning stages for better traction in a straight line. Since you're running welds and may know the answer.

Will the 17" weld fronts clear the 6 piston calipers. I know you're on 18s but i was thinking Bogart or Weld 17s. I have the big CTS-V brakes.

They are exactly what I wanted for the strip and the offsets are perfect. My only problem is they are a SOB to keep clean and water spot free. It's like trying to polish raw aluminum. There is no coating on them to make cleaning easy. When washing the car the wheels need to get dried first.

Everyone tells me they clear just fine, but my issue is more with LCA. If I have weight in the car and hit a bump it will scrape every now and then. Also when turning up a parking lot ramp if I hit it to hard I will hear a slight scrape. Nothing major and very seldom, but enough to keep me away from 17's.

However the brakes clear just fine. I have the "high" offset centers.

With 18 psi and MT DR's with a good burnout, I dead hook every time at mid 650+ hp

Thanks, i wasnt worried about the rears. I was gonna clearance the LCAs a bit anyway. Just concerned about the fronts and my big 6 piston calipers. Its pretty close on my 19" forgelines as it is.

I wonder what the performance gain is from 17" to 18"

Every person and shop I talk to says 17 works on the 6 piston ZL1 brakes but personally I wouldn't try it.

Very interested in why you are absolutely recommending a 20" wheel for the road course over an 18" wheel?

Matt
