noise from rear end - one wheel spinning
Do I need to change the rear diff oil?
Service manual states changing at 15k for ZL1. I'm hearing noises (sounds like clutch disks in diff) when turning after the car sits for a while (like overnight), and lately have had issues with one wheel spinning. It wasn't an issue when I got the car early in the year, I put about 5k miles on it this year only.

My 13 model had the same thing happen to it and GM ended up changing the complete rear axle out for me. The tech tried and tried to get the noise to stop but could not. So good luck and do not let them just try and slip it by you and say it is normal.

Put car in neutral. Lift 1 rear tire off the ground with a jack. Leave the other on the ground. It should then take about 100 lb-ft of torque to turn the lifted wheel.
If it turns too easily the clutches are worn out. You shouldn't be spinning just one tire.

The noise goes away by the time I get backed out of my driveway.

Ok then. Take it to your dealer and have them check it out. The noise my car had would not go away. It was very noisy and after changing fluid at least 3 times and doing figure eights for hours the noise was still there. We had no choice but to have GM send us a complete rear axle assembly.
