Winter tires for 2015 LT2 245/50R19

Unfortunately there is no winter tires in that size anymore. One tire store tried to sell me smaller rims but when I talked to the dealership, they said the transmission would need to be reprogrammed (I own a manual though!!) and there would be too much labor and extra cost for the rims as well.

Another tire store entered 245/50R19 into his computer and came up with the alternate size 235/55R19 and he has Blizzak DM-V2 for that size in the warehouse.

However, when I got home, I entered my tire size into tiresize.com and 235/55R19 is off by almost half an inch in diameter. Is that ok? I am going to the tire store in a couple of hours as the Blizzak tires are now in.

Just my experience driving my 1LS, V6 manual in the winter, but I have had the BFG Radial T/A spec tires and now the Falken ZIEX 950 A/S tires and both (especially the Falkens) have been great winter tires.

Of course you being in the N/E part of the country, you may get more snow than Ohio does and might need an actual winter tire.

Sorry I can't really help on the size issue though.

The half inch difference between the 345/50 and 235/55 will not be a problem. Slightly taller and thinner if a snow tire is not a bad thing, you'd be fine. The speedo will only be off by about 1 mph at 65. No need to "reset" anything.

Thanks all for your comments!
I just came back from the tire store and he changed his mind after seeing that 225/55R19 is dead on the diameter and also narrower which will give me a better traction. He also recommends Blizzak DM-V2 (more for trucks and SUVs) vs Blizzak WS (more for performance) because of the harsh winters here.

I'm glad it worked out for you.
