the "Comp Mode" launches at 4200-4500, thus is SHOULD handle a 3k launch... people who say it should are just not educated at all on the Camaro.

DAMN!!! I will have to watch for that!!!
my 67 (with an LT1 and T56) can handle the drop at 5500 easily and on Drag Radials! If the 10 cannot handle 3K, then that is a problem!

Bummer, I met a guy that runs a Corvette club at the Summit Racing car show last week, he said at least one Vette from their group breaks the rearend on the dragstrip meet they do every year...but on the road? 3000 rpm???? launch control holds at 4900 rpm on mine! I did not expect to here of explosions. good luck

Probably a weak factory part. One in a million.. I would know. I had my 98K mile SRA seals go on a bet. Hard turn and *pop*
Woke up to a puddle of axle oil in my drive. Then the REPLACEMENT part failed too.. Just the luck of the draw I'm afraid. At 2K miles on the car I'm sure as heck that it's a bad part w/ premature wear. |

sounds fishy - in comp mode dropped it several times and enjoyed every second showing an 06 GT what its like when a real car puts on a smoke show. Fropped at about 4500 each time
No issues on my end - my guess is bad luck, bad part. but never be afraid to drop once its fixed - you bought the car because it can and not just because it looks good |

But doesn't launch control do other things beside holding the rpms? I thought it also controlled the take off, something a regular drop at 3k might not do.

Actually, it is easier on the powertrain if the rear wheels broke traction and spun in place. Comp mode is putting much more stress on the powertrain since the computer maximizes the amount of TQ going to the rear wheels without breaking traction. I won't ever use that function most likely. I will be launching using skill alone, good or bad. 3k launch should be no problem though.
