There is no way there are only 12 in the country. There were 8 in Houston alone when I picked mine up 2 months ago and I was the 4th production week, I think. There are probably more like 300 based on what I have seen so far.

How satisfied are you? my L99 was nice, but that 4 cyc mode sucked! Very pronounced with my CAT BACK. Though, it ran very strong with that crap turned off.

Welcome Triple T. The 1LE is still pretty rare. Total production may be around 300 if that many. AFM sucks you are going to love the performance of the 1LE equipped SS.
As far as the hood is concerned....my problems came from the elements. Dirty car drive to work @ night condensation mixes with dirt and then dries in spots and streaks. I loved the look but nothing I did could clean it once it started to spot and streak and grey out. If I wanted a semi gloss hood I could have hidden the imperfections easily. After the first week I don't miss it much. Only down side is more people congradulate me on my zl1. I too would like to see more dyno numbers. I know in the past some "fast from the factory" SS cars lost their magic with bolt ons. Mine is still going to get the headers and eventually a tune. |

Remind me to tell you the story (PM or Phone) of my Mom's Buick Regal T Type (only 1500) made. That was 1987 and only 1500 Grand Nationals were made that year too.

Awesome numbers Ozzy! Now that makes two of our group to bust 400rwhp....Kinda cool.
I will say that when I test drove mine it felt like it pulled as hard or harder than my 11' SS.. and stilll does. The 11 had a full KooKs system ( 1 7/8 LT , hi-flo cats and 3in exhaust) along with an AIRAID cai and tune. It made 404 rwhp in 98 degree weather on its only time on the dyno after the upgrades. I installed a CAI...cai this past friday and have driven it much since but it definitely has more power. I know the gears help this car but it just feels more "alive" and just flat out faster than my previous car. Gotta love this 1LE....

Hey Ozzy, I like your dyno numbers. I suppose this means we do generate a bit more with the 1LE package. Btw, your black gills look cool.

I called Goodies Speed Shop today to get a quote to install the LS3 heads and cam shaft. They charge North of $120 per hour and estimate this job to be 30-35 hours. Ouch! So, even if the heads and cam are $1500 + 4200 to install it for a total of $5,700. OUCH!

Got any other places you can call? Maybe a DIY is an option? I've got a buddy in VA who's got a friend helping him install a cam in his 04 GTO...might take a while but if that's the labor price you're looking at it might be worth looking into. |
