Mine has had a bit of a rattle in 5th gear since the day I got it. It even does it at 70-75 mph and only when I give it a bit of gas. If I can get it in just right it doesn't vibrate.

Can't tell from the video but the rattle is pretty loud and annoying, seems to be getting worse by the week, only 2,000 miles.

That is definitely NOT normal. I don't care what the tech says, that rattle is not normal, even if you WERE lugging the engine which you are not.

Good luck.

Actually at 40 mph the ZL1 is running atleast 2000 rpm which is fine. That is where I normally shift under normal driving. I usually shift to 6 th at 50 mph and up. At 45 the rpm drops to about 1500. Also the OP is driving all the way to 65 mph which will be about 3000 rpm or more in 5th.

To the OP. That is definitely something wrong. I can feel and hear something similar in second if I leave my hand on the shifter and slightly pull back. It sounds like gear meshing in 5th gear. Take it to another dealership. Evidently that one doesn't have a clue.

Been 2 weeks since the dealer was supposed to contact engineering. They said they will be back on Monday, LOL.
At least I can link them to a video.

Lets look at the dates, LOL
Car went to the dealer yesterday, They have a 6 page procedure they have to do to try to fix the problem, they think the "GATE" in 5th needs to be adjusted.
Tranny has to come down.
Will advise when I get more info, They need the car for a couple of days.
They gave me a Silverado as a loaner.

I feel bad for you man. Id be so annoyed by that noise. My 2010 SS had an issue with the 5th gear where it would lock me out under hard acceleration. It did it randomly.

they did some work to it (wish I could remember what the diagnosis and the fix was ).

I hope you get it sorted out. Test drive it as soon as you get it back and if it still has the same problem make them keep the car and try again. Document everything in case you have to go past the dealership and deal with GM directly.

By the way, nice NY accent lol. Coming from another New Yorker.

At certain RPMs the little plastic piece under the shifter knob will rattle a little. If I put my finger on it, it stops. Not saying that's what yours is but Im sure with you driving it youd be able to tell if it was a trim piece or something major. Hope you get it fixed soon.

I can hear the clickin noise in the video, and if it was my car, I would want it fixed no doubt about it!. Especially bothersome when it doesn't go away as you are accelerating.

Just got the call from the dealer. The 6 page fix did not work..:(
They just ordered the parts for a rebuild....:(
You would think with only 2,000 miles they would just swap out the tranny.
What do you think?
