If they were doing a sport truck like the old SRT-10 or Lightning I get it. But why does and off road truck need 700 hp

Well yeah I get there is no good reason for it in any car lol.

My point was more why would an off road version "need" that much power. I mean unless you doing Baja style isn't most offroading done at low speeds

Street truck with 700 HP to me sounds awesome. Off Road truck with 700 hp to me makes no sense

With a truck even with an offroad package most will still spend most of their lives on pavement, most of the hp would not be usable, low end torque would be though.

I would not like to fill the gas tank though here 1.30 for 94 it costs 160$ to fill the tank on my truck. I go though 100 a week using it as a DD.

Then why not make it a street truck like the trackhawk jeep...that's what I am getting at lol.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. And I would say the same thing if Ford put the Predator in the Raptor or if GM ever got off their ass and put an LT4 in an off road silverado it just doesn't make any sense to me

FCA has a ton of these drivetrains lying around and the company does not have the financial backing to engineer new vehicles and drivetrains; therefore, they have decided to make dozens of variations of the ~12 year old Challenger and they have also stuck the 392 and Hellcat engines into the Durango, Grand Cherokee and now the RAM is getting the HC treatment. I'm not knocking them by any means. They have done a lot with what little financial backing that they do have. FCA has made a ton of fun vehicles for the Mopar faithful to enjoy. It's all good in my book.

Except FCA drivetrains still suck.
Best friend had an 2005 and a 2015 3/4 ton Dodge diesel. Both trucks transmissions crapped out.
He switch to a Ford Superduty diesel and is loving it so far dragging his 38' trailer.

Agree 100% it's just the offroad application is the part I don't get. When they stuck it in the Grand Cherokee they didn't try to make it a crawler they made it a bad ass street SUV.

I'm not contesting it. From what I have heard, they do have their problems.

On the other hand, my company bought a brand new 2016 F550 with the utility bed and the thing was returned over a lemon law. It was in the shop more than it was on the road during its first year. Ford bought it back. My Dad's buddy had a 2017 F550 to pull his 30' horse trailer and the thing blew the trans with ~1,300 miles on the clock. It can happen to anybody.

And no, I'm not advocating for FCA here. I only own GM's and I'm on a GM site. I'll leave the FCA stumping to these Dodge guys that are always hanging around on here.

As one of the Dodge guys I have not had any issue with any of the FCA cars or trucks that I have had, all brands will have about the same issues more or less.

Oh well that settles it.....because of your giant sampling of FCA owners experiences, all FCA drivetrains suck.

Yes. Without having undeniable facts, I cannot say that one manufacturer has more problems than the other. And with that, I'm not going to do the research, if there is any. I'm not buying anything but a GM, so it doesn't affect me.

To each their own.

Exactly, if we all liked the same things this world would be a very boring place. I do tend to favor Mopars a bit, but as demonstrated by my current stable of vehicles, I'm far from a fanboy. I've owned just about all of them over the years and have had problems from time to time with each and every brand. The most important thing is how are those problems addressed by the service departments.
