V6 Camaro vs Challenger R/T

I'm sure someone has spoken about this before but does anyone seen any vids of a v6 camaro vs a challenger R/T? I've looked at their 0-60 times and they're compirable, perhaps with some minor modifications we could have a possible contender for dodge's R/T Chally (which is a fine car btw).

What are your thoughts?

Not sure what numbers you were looking at, but IMO 1 sec difference doesn't put them even close to the same class. Motortrend numbers are:

Challenger R/T
0-60 = 5.1sec
1/4 mile = 13.6sec

Camaro V6
0-60 = 5.9
1/4 mile = 14.4sec

Challenger R/T has a big advantage with the extra hp and tq from it's V8 and if I had to choose I'd take the R/T over a V6 Camaro.

No way in hell a V6 Camaro will beat a Chally R/T.

The Camaro V-6 is powerful, but even a '99 Mustang GT would be able to take it.

Yep, and a simple tune and few bolt-ons will put the Charger RT (with track pack option) at 13.zip in the Qtr, closer to a SS.

no no no, a 99 stang gt would be close but i think the camaro would take it. even a 09 gt only pushes 300 hp and the v6 camaro pushes 300 and what 4-5 hp.

I agree that the V6 could probably take the 99 Mustang GT. I can't see it taking the Chally without some major mods.

That's what I thought til I looked up the numbers.

1999 Mustang GT

0-60 = 5.4sec
1/4 mile = 14.0sec

The GT has more tq and it weighs 500lbs less than a V6 Camaro which would = a win with drivers of equal skill

R/T beats the V6 maro... for a whole lot of dollars more.

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

alot of people get stuck on the number of horsepower and dont take in the advantage of weight and torque. I know that i will get slapped by v8s, but atleast i know that ill be able to slap plenty of v6s for sure, i wonder how our v6 will do against the new cobalt SS, they both get 5.9 to 60

I agree the chally beats the V6 maro straight line, what about auto-cross or road course?

That is a good question also, I wonder that myself!

For me i couldve got a chally RT for the same price of my Camaro, but i chose to get a 2LT/RS because ive been Camaro crazy since 14, and the Camaro just fits me better. The chally is a nice car though, i have to admit. very nice, but our Camaro is better. I wish i could afford a loaded SS, a 1SS isnt far from the price of mine right now, but insurance would also be killer
From what i have been told, they have said that they know the v6 does better then 5.9, maybe 5.7 or 5.6, im not sure if it will do that, but this what i have heard from a guy who tested the prepro cars. Maybe because the ones they drove were broken in with all the test miles and could do better. P.S he was part of the development of the Camaro, and the ZR1 as well.
Hes the one that told me the LS3 would do better then advertised, he said about 4.5 and we got 4.4 soo he could be right with the V6

Hey Silver, what are the actual times you get with your car if you have ever recorded it?
