Want to double your HP?
Check out this 1960's Turbonique AP Supercharger that used NASA rocket technology to take a '63 Chevy 409 from 405hp to 835hp on a dyno test.
The supercharger basically used its own type of "rocket fuel" rather than scavenging from the engine. It would spin a turbo up to 100,000rpms and basically turn the engine into a "giant two-stroke." For a really cool read/more info: http://iowahawk.typepad.com/bolus/20...real-acme.html

But if it was providing such boost, then it should have more than doubled the hp. And I would imagine there are simplier ways to make a 4 stroke into a 2 stroke.
