Holy AzzWhoopin! first the V6 gets jumped by the Camry and now a Tundra with a load of lime in the bed. If I have a Tundra pull up next to me, I'm arming the nitrous.[/QUOTE] Before I sold my G-Tec pro I measured a 14.3-sec 94.5-mph 1/4-mile, which does not tell the story on how it accelerates from 0 to 70-mph. One has to keep in mind that the Tundra has to push 4x as much air out of the way than a Camaro at speed thus 70-mph to 90-mph the Camaro would start reeling me in. It is more about the gearing with the 4.30 axel along with a low first and second gear in trans. BTW Tundra axels are plenty stout, the number of lugs do not define load capacity, it is the size of the bearings which are huge thus the Tundra requires a 150mm-bolt circle. On a bolt circle this large less lugs are required to keep the wheel on when corning hard at maximum load. This is a great time to buy the Camaro, there are over 13,000 new waiting to be sold on Dealers lots. Deals are being put as the 2015 Mustang is hitting the show room floor. A loaded 2014 SS is being marked down $ 7,100 off msrp ($34K +tax) in my area. What I like about the Camaro is the stout body and chassis which did not need reinforcement to make the Z-28, (also a IRS Camaro is running 7-sec 1/4-miles). You get the expensive and high quality Cadillac v6 for peanuts in the basic eco version. The engineers where able to push through expensive tooling to make the body sides in a one piece stamping. This was instrumental in getting the best crash performance of any sports car. It also gives better door fits and smaller gaps all around. The Oshawa assembly plan has been rated the highest quality NA car plant by JD Power for years, no idea where the 2016 is being built (not a looker BTW) Thus even if you buy a $ 23K Camaro the chassis has the potential to be moded and safely handle over 1000-hp Go out there and get you some. |

As for the 150mm bolt circle, 6.5" is about a 163mm bolt circle, Fords are 170mm so they have 8 lugs on a larger bolt circle. Wonder why. Tundra is fine if you want a half ton, but I don't want a half ton.

To me the Tundra 5.7 4x4 crewmax blows the silverado and seirra away (as well as dodge and ford) in every way. I looked at and drove the dodge, and seirra 4x4 before I bought my 2010 tundra new back in 2010. Looks are subjective but in MY opinion the tundra looks the best. It definitely outruns the three performance wise as well (stock). If i had to ever downgrade to a 1/2 ton gas best believe it would be a 4x4 crewmax 5.7 Tundra without the blink of an eye.
Yes the fuel is beyond horrid but who buys these things for fuel mileage anyway lol. |

I would even put the 14 bolts SF up against a Toyata diff. but again its not just the diff. If your 14 bolt had eight lugs, the ring gear would be 10.5 or it could even be the AAM unit with an 11.5 gear. In the past, 8 lugs meant a 4L80e (probably 6l80e now) or Allison trans, two inch thicker boxed frame, bigger transfer and CV shafts, etc. Quote:
I would not own a Dodge that was not the diesel myself.

To me this is the definition of a no-brainer. If you are interested in a Camaro buy the Camaro. Brand loyalty aside, If you need a truck take $6-7K and buy a ten-year-old Chevy/GMC 1500. insurance on an old truck is very cheap, the GM 5.3 engine and 4l80 transmission are super reliable and the GM800 trucks are probably the easiest trucks in hstory to wrench on.
The ONLY reason I would buy the Tundra in this senario would be because I LOVED Toyota trucks. But, then I probably wouldn't be on a Camaro site asking the questions. |
