Supercharged SS compared to ZL1
I'm looking into getting my SS supercharged with a SLP stage 1 kit. Other than the SC my car would be stock. I was wondering if anyone has driven a SS with just a SC and a stock ZL1. If someone has, how do the two compare power wise and drivability? I've driven a stock ZL1 and was curious how my SS would drive in comparison after being blown.

I haven't driven a stock but blown L99, but I have driven my ZL1. I would think it would be pretty close power wise between the 2?
I think Jannetty Racing has posted a stock L99 with SLP blower dyno sheet somewhere. |

The SS will make more power with just a blower, especially if it's an LS3 car.

Stock for stock, both auto's ... Only saying auto's because of the L99 reference above, they'll be close but the ZL1 will make more power. In the neighborhood of 450-475 depending on conditions and the dyno.

Nah, cam and stall L99s can take down the ZL1.

Already answered the question, L99 with blower will beat ZL1, LS3 will do it easier. And if a cam and stall L99 (with less power than a blown car) can, a blown L99 obviously will. |

So is the question:
SS = $40K + $10K blower/tune + $3K suspension mods + $3K rims/tires = $56K and 575rwhp. ZL1 = $56K + $4K mods = $60K and 625rwhp.

SS= 40k+ 6k blower + 4k internals+ 1k suspension + 1k 18s w/ DRs = ZL1's worst nightmare and 52k. All day making 800wheel.

You can outrun a stock Z fairly easily as long as you don't have to turn and/or stop with one. Extra hp doesn't matter if you have to get off the gas well before the turn because your stock brakes are on fire. If the handling and brakes don't matter to you, do the SS thing. After a couple of years, your modded out SS won't be worth much either. A fairly stock ZL1 will. |

I only do the work myself, so I never figure it in. I'm talking straight line, who cares about the twisty bits
The weight of the ZL1 is the downside, the MR is heavy and not that stuff in the grand scheme of things. For 2k in an SS you could have coilovers, sways, and bushings. That's a good fight too. |
