Leather Seats: Seatbelt Strap Warning
A bit of warning! I noticed quite accidentally that under both seatbelt shoulder straps on my 2011 SS Convertible (leather) that the straps stitching is tearing through the leather of the seat. It's worse on the driver's side, but present on both. As this could easily be construed as a 'wear and tear' issue by the dealer, I was sure I'd get bad news from my dealer. BUT, being a great place, Chevrolet of Puyallup is replacing both seat sides. I urge you to check. I don't know if this is a common problem, but nobody seems to have known about it in the area. Also if there's a bulletin on it, please share it here. Sorry about the fuzzy picture, iphones only do so much with their autofocus.
Thanks! Tib

While it appears that other topics with the same issue have arisen, I just wanted to post a picture of the newly repaired strap installation. I urge those of you who haven't had this done yet to get it done! It will save you torn leather and a lot of fretting!

It might also be worth it to get that sewn into the inside of the strap. I've stopped using my seatbelt strap as it's been wearing down the leather!

I never use my seatbelt because it pops out of the strap constantly and without it it's all on my face

What's crazy? Not wanting the seatbelt on my face and neck while driving?

Thank you so much for posting this. I went to look and sure enough my car had it too. Ended up using vinyl glue since I don't like going to the dealer. Out of curiosity, is that cloth portion by the strap a new thing on the replacement covers or did they sub it out to an upholstery shop to ad it?

Mine came with the padding under it. Wonder at what point that changed?

I'm 6'04". My head barely touches the roof when I drive and I have the seat leaned back some. Without being in the straps the belt comes right across my cheek and neck line. In the straps, just popping the clutch too hard and letting the car jump will pop the strap and the belt whacks me.
