The new transmission came with Valvoline synthetic ATF is that a good brand to use in the transmission?

I always had a bad shift flare on the 2-3 shift when using GM's DEXRON VI. So much so that I could predict when it would flare 3 out of 4 times.

A couple years back I switched to Valvoline MaxLife Synthetic ATF and noticed an immediate improvement. No more shift flares ever. I also run the widemouth truck filter 'upgrade' for added flow and change my fluid every year or 15k miles. Anyhow, my point is - I think Valvoline is a top notch fluid manufacturer, and if the trans builder is recommending it, I would likely continue to use it, or at least give it a try.

Valvoline MaxLife Synthetic ATF, I used it in the 6L90 and when I switched to the 4L80.
My car Pounds pretty hard on the transmission I have had no problems, the last time I changed it looked new and temps always ran around 170 to 180. hope this helps.

That’s what I am using now in mine and no complaints so far. One of the best in that price range.

Hmmmm interesting. I might have to try this ATF out and see if there is any difference in mine.

Could it have been that my transmission died at 174k miles from not changing the fluid at 100,000k regular maintenance but changed it at 150k ?

Most transmission failures are due to heat. Old fluid loses viscosity and more heat is created from increased friction.

I used the Valvoline ATF in my last pan drop and filter/fluid change.

Even though the factory says 100K if you plan on keeping the car I would do it every 30k with filter change. (Minimum)
