I took my wife for her first ride back in April 2011.

As we pulled into the garage she said

" well I won't be driving this".

Me- "We got no problem here, I am good with that".

There are lots of rims like yours for sale, just check places like Craigslist. I picked up an entire set for my winter wheels for $400 so have a look around and get some extras. I'm really liking the comments I'm seeing here, that they are wheels and easily replaced. Your daughters trust and sense of confidence/respect are worth much more than a few bucks for wheels.

Also, look at tires with rim protectors when you replace your current ones.

I got a chance to drive my dad's car one time when I was 16 and I made a scratch. I tried to very, very careful but I didn't know the curb was that close. I felt I was given the opportunity and I let him down. Man, that was a slow ride home. I showed it to him (shaking). He was pretty upset. I did save up and pay for the repairs and it wasn't cheap!

I don't agree with the "Its just a car!!" comments. The OP didn't give the indication that car > Daughter. He just posted what happened.

I bet she feels really bad. Let her pay for a new wheel. If she treated it like a joke, it was probably just nerves.

It hit me then: I realized that my priorities were WAY out of whack. I even had an epiphany that very moment, when I realized that if anything ever happened to my kids, that THEN I would give ANYTHING to see fingerprints on my window, muddy foot tracks on the floor, or Cheerios on the back seat.

I never, ever again got pissed off over things like that. Of course, I try to guide the kids to NOT make messes, especially in the car... but if and when they do, well, it's on me to clean it up later. The almost- psychotic obsession I have with keeping a perfectly clean and detailed car is MY psychosis, and shouldn't make anybody else suffer. I clean the car, inside and out, many times each week. It's MY obsession!

Now that the kids are older (with driver's licenses!), I simply keep in mind that dings, dents and scratches are just like muddy footprints and fingerprints, only more high dollar. Dents, scratches, even entire vehicles are replacable. Treating my kids like crap is not worth it... you can't take back cruel words, ever. Of course, yes, I want them to treat my stuff with respect, but, I still let the kids borrow the Camaro on ocassion, even if it leaves me biting my nails and in a cold sweat. So far, not a single mishap... but... I am ready for it, if it ever happens... and while the offender will need to pay the cash value, there won't be any hollering, screaming, or belittling. Stuff is stuff, people are so much more important.
Great post (although I did LMAO at the mental image of a "just-shaken Coke" opened in a 2-week-old car)!

Bummer, but at least it's fixable. Just let it be one of those things in the futuer you two talk about and laugh about when you're retired and already a great grandfather.

Brad Paisley puts it the best in his hit song "Little Moments."

[QUOTE=VR2013;7427706]Yeah she's fine, just hit the curb while parking

So the problem wasn't her driving the car
Next time tell her not to try to park , just keep on driving

That's some pretty deep stuff right there.
It totally changed my perspective while going through this thread.

Thanks for sharing..

Don't sweat it. If you drive a car regularly these things are inevitable. It is only a matter of time before you get a door ding, curb rash, nick or scrape etc.
