Drag/Weld wheel on a daily driver
My 14 SS I recently purchased has Z28 replicas on it and I am looking for a new wheel and tire combo. I love the look of the drag/weld wheel and was wondering if anyone has put a tire you can daily drive with on a set of wheels like this? I’m looking at 18x8.5 up front and 18x10.5 in the rear (VMS Wheel).
Thoughts? Last edited by Konaa; 10-23-2021 at 11:42 PM. Reason: Spelling |

I've done this on 17 and 15 drag radials.
My '10 is currently is on Nitto 555R 275-60-15 drag radials, been on a few road trips with them. But not the best drag radial for best track results.

I think it will drive just fine. I have dailied with bias ply on all 4 corners, 17x4.5 skinnies on the front and 17x10.5s out back, which handled like a lumber wagon riding on balloons, but its do able on the street and good at the strip. The 8.5 in the front should still drive fine...it won't handle like a 1LE but as long as you accept what you are going for, it should be ok for street and good for drag.

Thanks for the info guys…still debating on what I’d like to go for…I just like the weld wheel look but I don’t want it to impact the drive.

I've driven on Weld RTS for 5 years, included 3 trips from Chicago to Bowling Green.

How much power were/are you putting down when you ran welds in the street? I’m about 500whp, maybe a little less. Just trying to figure out if it’s silly to run a drag pack with that power.
