I'm not sure how the whole setup is connected, but if I were to guess 2010 and 2011 owners should be able to use this new OnStar feature. I'm NOT sure though... With this new feature, it gives me another reason to wait for the 2012's to roll out.

All subscribers should get that, it's mainly a software upgrade. You can already call On Star to unlock your car, and if you already have remote start that will work too.
Rest is software, so your good. |

The features are for the 9th gen hardware, so I think it's only the 2011 and up? Anyone want to confirm or correct?!

They are also talking about 9th generation hardware
So I am wondering if we will to be able to utilize all of the features or just what our hardware is capable of. I love the idea of being able to lock with a phone. I have gone into a shopping center a few times and couldn't remember if I locked my car (probably just a little paranoia going on)

2010's don't have the Gen 9 hardware to support the new features, including the remote lock/unlock/start via iphone/android phone. 2011's do.
