Gun Holster (Pics - Prototype)

So, just a quick prototype I'm working on. Got VERY tired of opening/closing glovebox and console to access my gun. Real simple design. Originally, I was trying to get it to work with magnets, but for the strength you need to hold the weight of the gun, they would not cooperate.

I suppose you could get the same effect with a professional holster, but this one works nicely with a pizza box and some zip ties. Thinking final version will be acrylic coated with rubber spray or plasti-dip.

"VERY tired of opening/closing glovebox and console to access my gun"

Why do you need to access your pistol so much?

Too complicated. I just installed a doomsday button in my 45th, wired to a crate of C-4. If I feel threatened... boom.

I keep my XD45 in the pouch behind the passenger seat. no one ever rides in the back and it is readily accessable.

To switch from concealed carry to car carry. The only other reason would be for if he had to shoot someone, with it which is frankly why I bought mine.

BTW, I use this, works like a charm. http://www.gumcreekcustoms.com/Unive...-Mount-p5.html

Hrm. Looks nice, but my legs are cramped as it is. It's also the reason I put the gun on the passenger side of the console. I don't want my legs bumping the gun while dancing with my pedals

And for everyone else, yes, it is to switch from conceal carry to car carry. And yes, I live in a bad neighborhood. Also, god forbid the situation ever arise, you need to have QUICK access to it. Not exactly quick when trying to open glove compartment/ console. Kinda awkward :/

I like it... functional, spartan, inexpensive. Not pretentious, just good enough to do the job.

If you hate these threads so much, you can just not comment on them.

To the OP, nice simple design but I don't think I would use it myself. I'd sooner buy a holster made for my gun. I usually just put mine on the back seat though. Easy enough to reach and out of the way too...

Right. I agree a professional holster would look/function better. This was just a quick prototype to get the ideas running. I would sooner drop dead than drive around with a pizza box holster as a permanent solution

I actually keep mine in a pizza box in the passenger seat. Stealthy, element of surprise and I leave a couple of slices in there for other emergencies.

I like that universal holster...would work better than putting it b/w my driver seat & door sill

pick up an uncle mikes soft holster, it has a clip on it and it works well in the door bottom, looks like it will work in the same place you have your "box"...
